Hi Guys
I have been researching site building options for the last two weeks. I have narrowed it down to 4. It looks like Yola might be the fevorite but I have some questions. I have a lame old web site that sells acrylic tubing and is hosted by earthlink. If I want to rebuild it on Yola should I host w/ Yola? If I have decent google ranking will I loose anything by moving to Yola? I will be adding basic services to the site and need a shopping cart of less than 100 items. I will probably be doing a pro account. Can anyone give me a reason to pull the trigger on Yola vs Weebly, webnode, jimdo etc???
I am a newby if that is not obvious but the criteria I am using are these.
Easy to build w/nice looking templates for e commerce
ability to have matatags on all pages to be found by google
good tech support
My logo in the headers
Fire away people I need to make a decision today and I appreciate your resposes in advance

looked at those 2 sites and they are good. the support there is ok but not good as yola. and they haven't got a site builder that is easy. it is a bit hard to use cos i have sign up to those websites and the sitebuilders are not easy. on the other hand yola sitebuilder is easy to use and easy to know where every thing is. on the weebly 1 you need to open folders to get to of what you want. and yola don't have folders only drop downs!!

Hi Shan,

Welcome to Yola and I hope I can help!

1. If I want to rebuild it on Yola should I host w/ Yola?
If you create your site using Yola, you can host your site with us for free. You can either publish to your own domain (you'll need to point it to us) or use a free Yolasite address. Alternatively, you can buy your own domain name on Yola. More information on this link: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...

2. If I have decent google ranking will I loose anything by moving to Yola?
When you switch your domain over to a newly built site, that does not completely remove the old site from the search engine's index. What will happen over the next few weeks to few months is that the search engine will return to your domain and see that the content has changed, it will throw out the old, and update its index with the new. This will be done gradually and you can expect the indexing to take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

We have lots of info on how to optimize your Yola site for SEO on this link: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/.... You can definitely add metatags, submit your site to Google Webmaster, use keywords etc.

3. I will be adding basic services to the site and need a shopping cart of less than 100 items.
We have integrated with PayPal and you can view our tutorial on this link: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...

If you would like more features with your online store than what we currently provide, you can customize your store on PayPal.com and paste the HTML code provided. You can also use other services like Google Checkout and AlertPay, more info on this link: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/....

4. good tech support
We've just won the Support Awards! (See here: http://supportawards.org/Winners). We offer free 24/7 Support and you can get help by posting on our forum, Get Satisfaction. Alternatively, browse our Support pages for information or submit a support request.

5. My logo in the headers
A lot of styles (templates) offer the ability to add your own banner image. You can create your banner on your PC and then upload it to your site. More info on creating your banner on this link: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

I believe weebly has ads--Yola does not. It was also more difficult to use. Webnode is not bad but but it doesn't have nearly the support Yola does. This forum and the support provided is the number one reason I switched over. Also, with webnode to use your own domain with, you have to change two Cname records--this was impossible with the DNS manager I have. Another reason I switched.

I agree Diane....This forum is a rare resource regardless of the subject matter and has to be greatly considered in how you rate Yola as a whole.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the comments and suggestions.I have looked at some finished Yola sites and they look nice but Does anyone know where I can see sites which came from templates that actually show what templates were started with.Even though they are customizable Yola seems to be limited on template design(17 of the nicer templates) and I would love to see what you can do w/some of these basic designs. As a newby I am a little devoid of vision.
Thanks again

I generally use Squeaky Clean or Burlap but then change everything so I don't think I can help you much with that! lol

Hi tanz808,

SEO means a lot to us at Yola as we fully understand how vital that is to the success of our user's websites. Bearing that in mind, we design all our styles to meet current web standards as well as being completely search engine friendly.

The speed at which your site will be indexed lies with the search engine. Sometimes Google will index your site within two week, other times it takes a couple of months.

But by making use of Yola's site builder and styles, you're definitely off to a great start. We have a series of short SEO Tutorials which will bring you through the various aspects of planning, building and promoting your site with SEO in mind. UK Duke has posted the link above.

Have fun!

Hi guys thanks again for all the great feedback. W respect to tanz808 s question, If you already have an existing site and Url that is ranked by google does it make you start all over again w the yola site even though you are already indexed w/ the search engines?
I guess I am asking if you move back to square one w/ respect to S.E. indexing?

no i'm sure it would stay the same - only the dns records change i dont see why that would effect a search rank.

Never buy Yola.

They will disable all your services without informing if you make a mistake

That isn't true...There is a huge difference between a mistake and a TOS violation that could shut their company down.Regardless of what anyone thinks the net is a business first and foremost. There are governing bodies that can and will shut down anyone not making an effort to play within the rules.
