Can somebody please explain all the charges related to creating a site with Yola? I've read on the tutorials that i can launch a site with Yola for free. Launch being the key word here, does this mean i will have to start paying for this service after a certain period of time? If so how much? does it cost to get it published etc etc. I understand to the more experienced folk on here the free package may be limiting to you but i'm just trying to get a feel for all of this so this seems great to me. I'm just not sure if i'm going to get charged or not.

Hi John

Welcome to our forum!

Yola offers a free package that allows you to create, publish and host a website for free. There is no time limit on this offer. For example, it is not a 30 day free trial after which you will be charged. This means that you can upgrade when the time is right for you!

The reason we refer to our free package as a "Launch" package is that we believe it provides people with an excellent way to get started with their website. However, in order to create a truly professional site a custom domain name and other features of the Yola Silver package (premium styles, extra storage etc) are very important. Our hope is that the free package will allow people to try out our service, experience having their own site and then upgrade when they are ready to take it to the next level.

So feel to try out Yola for as long as you like! Let us know if you need any assistance with upgrading when you are ready.

I hope this clarifies things for you. If anything is still unclear, please let me know.

Hi Monique

Thanks for a speedy replay, that's a great answer. 1 more small query, i am assuming i will still have to renew my domain every year. Will this be automatic registration or will you contact me?

Hi John

Happy to help.

If you buy a custom domain for your site you can register it for 1 year or for multiple years (depending on the type of domain you buy). You will see this information when you check out and there is a discount for registering for multiple years. Regardless of which option you select, you will need to renew your domain when the registration period expires.

For your convenience we have automated this, although we will send you a reminder before we next bill your account. You can also manage your renewal preferences through your "Account" tab in My Yola (change the billing method, opt out of auto-renewal etc). We recommend auto-renewal as this prevents your site from ever becoming unavailable if you accidentally forget to renew your domain. However, even if you opt out, we will contact you before your domain expires and give you the opportunity to renew.
