Help with coding please

I've decided to use a Wufoo form to gather subscriber's e-mails. I'm using a pop-up form. I've made a little "subscribe" button to replace the text link for the sign-up page. However the subscribe button has this border around it which looks fine in FF but is a blue color in IE7. I don't know if I can change the border color around the button to look fine in both browser. If I can't, then I want to get rid of this border but I don't know how to do this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the code:
JOIN OUR MAILING LIST

You will receive an email letting you know when our site has been updated.

BTW.. you'll see the image of the subscribe button. The border around that is actually the background - this is the not the problem. When installed onto the website, it seems to create another border. I'll post a screen shot so that you can see.

Hi L,

<!--style="border:0px"-->
will remove the border. blue was the original default colour of borders around images etc and it still hangs around a little bit. You can change the border colour as well.

Goodluck.

Hey Peter

It doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... but it has no effect at all.

I think that if you go into the HTML you will see the border code. That's where you add the extra bit. I'm happy to have a look at your code if you post it here. I mean the code for the button. I see your table code.

Code is always frustrating.

Here's the code I have:
<!--<table border="3" bordercolor="#E4CEA4" width="210" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td><div align=center><font face="verdana"><b>JOIN OUR MAILING LIST</b><br><br> You will receive an email letting you know when our site has been updated.</font><br><br><div align=center><a href="#" onclick="window.open('http://littleus.wufoo.com/forms/z7x4m1/', null, 'height=310, width=680, toolbar=0, location=0, status=1, scrollbars=1'); return false" title="Join our Mailing List"><!--<img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/...> </tr> </table></div>--!>

The table border I do have is to put the whole text and button into. This is working fine. It's just that little border around the button itself. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix that! I don't even see the code for it!

I made it on the cooltext generator. I just downloaded the button and hosted it on my photobucket account to use.

I checked to see if there was a border thingy on the generator but could not see any border option.

No it's pretty well a default thing in IE L. I don't know how to correct this if we can't get to the HTML for the button insertion. I am really sorry for this.

ah well... I figured as much. I'll keep scrounging around for other buttons that might do the job better - something with a transparent background or with no background.

Thanks for taking the time to try and help me. I do appreciate it!

I managed to get the border off on IE7 through some kind of hack I found. But it caused the image to disappear altogether on FF. Arrrggh... I give up! lol.. way too advanced for the likes of me!

i dont think its anything to do with your code - since the updates, if the editor sees the <!--<a href>--> tag in a text box it adds the default link color - if you dont like it try to make the whole link as an image file and add it through a image box, then apply the link, the default link color is not added.

Maybe Synthasite should look at this - it looks a bit ugly to me.

30 mins of my life i wont get back :) thanks alot littleus ;)

The problem is here I think is that I'm trying to be too fancy! The "a href " tag in the text box is needed I think as it makes pop-up box for a sign-in page.

30 mins of your life??? What about my life?!! I wasted like a whole day on this thing! lol.

Hi

Have you tried just adding border="0" to the actual img part of your code, like...

<!--<img src="yourimage" border="0">--!>

i'm sure i have used this before to fix unwanted borders... sorry if it doesn't work. michelle

Hi Michelle

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it like you said but it didn't work. In fact, now, my picture won't even show up at all now. It's just not gonna work out I don't think. Thanks again.

i just realised all you have to do is add <!--<a style="text-decoration:none;" href="xxxxxxxxxxxxxx">

It works perfectly

this is the code you need is;

<!--
<table border="3" bordercolor="#E4CEA4" width="210" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td><div align=center><font face="verdana"><b>JOIN OUR MAILING LIST</b><br><br> You will receive an email letting you know when our site has been updated.</font><br><br><div align=center><a style="text-decoration:none;" href="#" onclick="window.open('http://littleus.wufoo.com/forms/z7x4m1/', null, 'height=310, width=680, toolbar=0, location=0, status=1, scrollbars=1'); return false" title="Join our Mailing List"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/...> </tr> </table></div>
-->

thank me later, lee.

Don't' get cocky yet Lee! =) I'm still seeing the blue border thing on IE7 and a green border on FF. It looks exactly the same as the screenshot I posted earlier. I don't think it's possible to have an image link to a pop-up. I think I'll just have to live with a boring old text link. Thanks for trying though!

Hey Lee

You are one tenacious dog! I did this very same code earlier and found that found it worked only for FF. In case there were some minute differences, I copied your code and tried it out. The same results came up. border is gone but pop up only worked in FF, not IE7.

You've worked hard on this Lee and I do appreciate it. I just don't think it's gonna work with an image link. Thanks for all the time spent on it.

THIS IS TESTED AND IT WORKS

<!--ok - IE7 must not understand the # , use the same code but replace the <a href="#" for <a href="your site URL that the code is on" (including the http:// of the url) -->

This will work - i really don't want to eat my hat

let me know if it works for you because it works for me great.

Lee.

<!--div align=center><font face="verdana"><b>JOIN OUR MAILING LIST</b><br><br> You will receive an email letting you know when our site has been updated.</font><br><br><div align=center>
<!--a href="http://littleus.wufoo.com/forms/join-..." onclick="window.open('http://littleus.wufoo.com/forms/z7x4m1/', null, 'height=310, width=680, toolbar=0, location=0, status=1, scrollbars=1'); return false" title="Join our Mailing List"><!--img style="border-width:0px;" src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/...> </tr> </table></div>

this code works for my site, you change the http://hexham.info for your home page url or whatever page the code is on.
copy this in then change the http://hexham.info to your url where the code is

<!--
<table border="3" bordercolor="#E4CEA4" width="210" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td><div align=center><font face="verdana"><b>JOIN OUR MAILING LIST</b><br><br> You will receive an email letting you know when our site has been updated.</font><br><br><div align=center><a href="http://hexham.info" onclick="window.open('http://littleus.wufoo.com/forms/z7x4m1/', null, 'height=310, width=680, toolbar=0, location=0, status=1, scrollbars=1'); return false" title="Join our Mailing List"><img style="border-width:0px;" src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/...> </tr> </table></div>
-->

You know what Lee.... I think what might actually be the problem is my IE7 itself or my computer. I've been having a lot of problems with it. Now my text link won't even open up on my computer. But it may be fine on another computer. I am sooo ready for an upgrade! Just waiting for my tax return! =)
