Help with feedback on website

Well, I've been working on my website for a while now, and I have made improvements compared to the last one I've made. I want to continue improving on it, but I don't know if I'm heading towards the right direction per say. I'm wondering, does the website look too busy or cluttered? Is there too much going on?

Hi Fenix,

I think your banner is absolutely beautiful. Very nicely done! There is a lot going on, but I didn't find it too cluttered and it's easy to navigate. The one thing I found slightly distracting and out of place was the dark glittery background, but that's just personal preference. I think it's a really nice site!

Very nice. I agree that the background distracts from the banner. Maybe a solid color that matches one of the phoenix's colors?

One other suggestion...in your current layout your links are centered making them the focal point of your page. I think they'd look better to the far right, so you might want to play with a 2 column layout or move your buttons to the left so your blog posts, the real content of your site, are the centered focal point of your page.

Just a thought!

Thank you everyone for taking the time to look at my website and giving me feedback about it. I didn't know what colour to make the background so I just chose a solid black. Is it less distracting now? Does it go well with the phoenix banner?

WOW!! It's amazing how a few small changes can make such a difference in the overall look and feel of a site. Your gorgeous phoenix just jumps off the page now and looks brilliant against the black, and centering your content really makes it the focal point. Your site look so much cleaner and is even easier to navigate now.

I agree, my site does look more cleaner and less cluttered. However, I am not sure if I should add another menu to the far left of my contents. I've been considering it, but I already have a lot of things posted on the homepage. Would it be a good idea?

Hey Fenix,

What would the menu be for?

I'm not really sure how to explain it, but for example:

ABOUT
*Profile
*Site history

GALLERY
*Animals
and etc.

Putting it out to others all at once rather than introducing it one at a time? Am I making any sense?

No, I just wanted to see if it was necessary for a menu. That's all.

I think a "Gallery" page would be a nice addition to your top navigation. For your "About" section, it sounds like you might want to add subpages.

Here is a quick overview on how to add subpages:

1. Create the pages you need. When you create the page untick the "show in navigation" box so that these pages won't be automatically added into your main navigation menu.

2. Now that you have your content, you need to link it all up. You can create the links using the text editor widget.
- drag a text widget onto your page and click to edit it.
- Type the text which you want to be the link to the sub-page.
- Highlight the text, and from the text editor tool bar, click the link button (10th from the left next to the image button).
- Click on the "..." button next to "page". It should give you a list of all the pages you have just created.
- Choose the relevant page and click "OK" and you will have a link to this page.

If you didn't untick the "show in navigation" box and would like to take them out of the menu, simply click on "Edit menu" and drag-and-drop the pages you don't want in the menu into the panel on the right hand side. Do the opposite to include them in the menu again.

For detailed instructions and a working example, please click on the following link: Creating Subpages.
