Hi Susan

It can certainly be difficult to get started when doing something for the first time. Can you tell us what your website is about and what you think you would like to add to it. That way we can try to give you the most relevant advice possible.

This is what I need. I need a site that I can sell things on and offer help on certain high school and college courses. I also want a page where I can put items w/pic. Of other people to help them sell. I need paypal link.
I am sorry I don’t know what I am doing, after trying 9 times I just gave up. I am trying to get something set up on the web where I can earn some money to finish paying for school.
I want a nice site and I need to know how to get to where people can see it.

Thanks
Susan

Hi Susan,

Welcome to SynthaSite, we're glad you joined us! We would like to give you all the information you need to help you build your site. We strive to make SynthaSite as easy to use as possible, and we are here to help you over the initial learning curve and support you when you need us.

Here are the initial steps after you log in:
1. Click on "Create New Site". You will be prompted to give your site a name and choose between a website page or a blog page.
2. Select a style. Your site will be given a default style, but you can change it by clicking on the "change style" button in the tab at the top of your screen.
3. Drag and drop widgets from the side bar on the right of your page and start editing them to add content such as text, images and videos.
4. If you want to make a new page click on "New Page" (the third button from the right above your page).
5. When you are happy with your site click "Publish" and you will be taken through the steps to publish your site. Your site will be live as soon as you publish it.
6. If you want to make changes to your site after you have published it, it's very easy to do, just log in to your account and open your site. You will be able to make all the changes you want. Don't forget to republish your site at the end of each session.

Hi La Rosa

We are certainly willing to help you with your site. It would be best if you had specific questions so that we can help you in a direct way.

One great way to get started is to read the tutorials they offer:
http://www.yola.com/support.html

Another thing you can do is perhaps look at other sites to get ideas on what they have done and then you can ask how a particular thing was done. Here are a couple of links that will give you an idea of what people have done with their sites:
http://www.yola.com/featured_sites
http://forsite.synthasite.com

Hopefully the links I gave you above will give you a good start. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do post a topic and you will find many willing people to help. =)

Hi There,

We will gladly help you get started. Here are some instructions that may help you to get started:

After you log in to your account:

1. You will be taken to a page that will allow you choose a design for your site. When you have decided on a style click on the "Next" button. You will then be asked to give your site a name. At this point you will also be asked to choose whether you want a webpage or a blog page. If you aren't sure choose a webpage to start with, it's easy to add a blog page later.
2. You can now chose to select a website address immediately (click on the "Choose a Web Address" button if you wish to do this), this will take you to a page where you can publish your site. You can choose to buy a .com domain from Yola, or publish your site to a free .yolasite.com subdomain name. Follow the steps to publish your site. If you don't wish to select a website address just yet, you can click on the button that says "Skip and start building" and you will be taken to a page where you can build your site.
3. Once you have either chosen a website address or chosen to go direct to building your site you will be taken to a page where you can start building. In the "Content" sidebar at the right of your screen, there are widgets. Widgets allow you to add things such as text (writing) and pictures onto your webpage. You add these to your page by clicking on them with your mouse and then, holding the button of your mouse down, dragging them across the screen. If you are doing it properly a grey image of the widget will move across the page. When the widget is over the page let go of your mouse button. You will then be able to start editing the widgets to add content such as text, images and videos. [What is a Widget?](http://www.yola.com/tutorials/what-is...)
4. If you want to make a new page click on "New Page" (the third button from the right above your page), you will be asked to give the new page a name, then you can add content to it using the widgets.
5. When you are happy with your site click "Publish" if you have not already done so and you will be taken through the steps to publish your site. Your site will be live as soon as you publish it. If you selected your web address when you created your site, simply click the yellow "Update My Site" button.
6. If you want to make changes to your site after you have published it, it's very easy to do, just log in to your account and open your site. You will be able to make all the changes you want. Don't forget to update (repubish) your site at the end of each session.
