I have my website with the basic account with Yola but wanted to upgrade and purchase a domain name.
The problem I have is the site http://daviesandson.yolasite.com is doing very well in the search engines and I have done quite a bit of work on the rss feeds and wondered if purchasing a domain name is going to destroy all the work i have done and i will have to start from scratch
Thanks

Hi Julie,

If you originally verified your site as a subdomain with Google Webmaster, and submitted a sitemap, but want to upgrade to a custom domain, you will need to re-verify your site with Google Webmaster and submit another sitemap. This will allow Google Webmaster to begin returning statistics on your new custom site.

What you need to do is remove the original Google Webmaster meta tag that you put into your home page and go back through the Google Webmaster tutorial for the new custom domain you have now published to. Here is a link to the Google Webmaster Tutorial: http://www.yola.com/tutorials/article....

I understand you are, justifiably, concerned about losing your current traffic after all the work you have put in, and I can assure you that as long as you keep your site published to your subdomain (as well as your new domain) your traffic will automatically be redirected to your custom domain.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Julie,

To publish your site to your custom domain, and keep it published to your subdomain, please follow these steps:

1. Click on the down-arrow next to "Publish to the web"
2. Click on "Publishing Settings".
3. Click on "Add a Domain you Own".
4. Fill in your domain in the box provided and click on "ok"

Your site will then be published to your domain and your subdomain.
