Help with setting up gmail please

I am trying to set up google apps to add email to my domain but I cannot seem to make it work. I have done it before with another domain I own. This happened quite quickly.

I have followed the tutorial, but the verification tabs and instructions on Google are different than the ones that appear in the tutorial.

I carried on though and got the txt, and when I entered it into my domain's avanced settings, I got "Successfully setup gmail for vivalapa.co.uk" coming up in the box where I inserted the text. Does this mean that is done or just that it will happen shortly.

Please could you advise me? I have checked the history and google says that the verification failed as the DNS txt has not been found. It has tried 3 times in 15 hours and although I know that it can take upto 48 hours, I wondered if there was something else I should be doing?

thankls

Hi debbym

Thanks for checking with us about this.

I checked the DNS settings for vivalapa.co.uk. It looks as if your Google verification code has not yet been added.

Can you please try verifying the domain again?

Hi Nazlie

I hae noticed that there are several people reporting the same thing.

Can I just point out that the tutorial is not up to date because the verification screen has altered in Google.

I have gone to my advanced settings for my domain in preparation for attempting to verify again and I have a message coming up in the 'set up email' area "Warning: you already have email setup on this domain. Making changes here will overwrite your existing settings".

When I go the the DNS settings for the domain - and this was happening over the last two days as well - I get a message to the effect "Oops somethings's wrong advanced settings is shutting down".

I'll try again, but I'm thinking that as a few people are asking about this, is there a problem generally?

thanks

I have done some test emails and I think it is actually working now but I can't look at DNS as I keep getting this message

"Uh-oh. Something has gone wrong. We're going to close advanced settings quickly. Please give us a moment and then try again. Thanks"

Anyway hopefully, all's well

thanks

Hi debbym

Thanks for the update.

I have asked our engineers at the problem with the DNS screen in your account and will let you know as soon as they get back to me.

I have checked your DNS records and see that your TXT record (with the Google Apps verification code) is not yet added. You will need to have this to in your DNS before you can verify your domain.

Take a look at Steps 8 and 9 in this tutorial for help with getting your Google Apps code and adding your TXT record.

If you are having trouble getting into your DNS setting in Yola, please email us your Google Apps code and we can add it to your domain.

Hi Nazlie

I have checked and the email is definitely working - even though you couldn't see it added. If you have looked at the settings of my domain, you will have seen the warning not to attempt to add email as it has already been successfully added....which was showing on the email option in advanced settings yesterday.

Obviously I did add the TXT record 2 days ago and now my DNS record is available for me to see.

Can I just reiterate that the tutorial is wrong now because steps 8 and 9 don't reflect what is in Google Apps

Anyway - I'm good to go.
thanks

Hi debbym,

I have checked the steps for setting up Google Apps and have attached a screenshot of step 8. Could you let me know whether you are seeing something different on your side?

.

I have also attached a screenshot of the Domains page, from step 9, where you need to click on "Advanced Settings" to proceed with adding the TXT record. Please let me know if your view is different?
