Trying to promote my website, I thought I'd try google webmaster. Google webmaster is requesting a sitemap and I figured I would go make one... Yea... easier said than done. It appears the site map has to be in XML or HTML format not just some links you type on a page. I tried sitemap generators and they don't work, for starters, they only recognize my home page, for second, it's not even a sitemap that is published on my site. How EXACTLY do I create this sitemap google webmasters is requesting? The sitemap I created which they don't want is at http://freemusiclistening.synthasite....

Google Webmasters did finally crawl the page with MY sitemap and came back with "errors" bc the file format is not supported... this is because it's not xml or html which I couldn't figure out how to do. Help greatly appreciated.

Go to site maps in webmaster tools....See where you can fill in the blank after your site name? Type sitemap.xml there and click submit sitemap.Yola creates our site maps for us...The one Google is asking about is not exactly the site map visitors see.

well... I did that and google hasn't finished yet, but just for the heck of it I clicked on the URL for the sitemap and it actually pulled up an xml with all of my links so it appears that this is going to work... I appreciate the assistance greatly. thank you.

yea, thanks... google just finished and it indexed 21 urls with no warnings or errors so apparently it worked... I'm not sure though, I don't think the sitemap.xml is explained in FAQs ... if it's not, that would be a good idea bc not everyone is going to know that's how you do it... :)
