Is there a way I can hide or change my personal data that I used to register for my domain name through Synthasite? If I do a WhoIs search, all my personal data comes up. I tried going to http://www.networksolutions.com but I can't seem to get access to my data to change it.

Hi Grace,

If you use a SynthaSite subdomain, such as "mysite.synthasite.com" it is completely anonymous and also free.

If you purchase a domain through Synthasite, such as "mysite.com", we pass the user details you give us during the domain registration to Network Solutions, our domain registrar partner. This domain will not be registered as anonymous.

I'd like to have my user details edited to remove all personal information and forwarded to Network Solutions. I am concerned about my personal safety.

Hi Grace,

The Internet Coalition for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) requires that the mailing address, phone number and e-mail address of those owning/managing a domain name to be made publicly available through the "WHOIS" directories, for accountability purposes. Because we sold you the domain, your information is attached to it.

There is a service called "domain privacy" which is offered by some registrars where they will substitute their own information for yours, and act as a forwarding service for any queries that arise regarding your domain. However, this costs extra - we will have to buy the service for you from Network Solutions.

Should you want to do this, please send us an email at support@synthasite.com and we will assist you.

Just an addition - please follow the same process should you want to change the information registered against your domain.
