How do you host your own site search? It doesn't necessarily have to be with Yola, I can use my other website host if needed. I'm looking for far more options and customizations than site search services will provide!

Perhaps someone knows of a tutorial!?

It's actually easier than you think Donald.

You can use the normal Google Search box on your site and just change the URL to your own URL instead of Google's. (or have both if you want)

I can't remember how I did it now, but by combining the search with "Adsense" you allow your visitors to search only your site and you can display google ads on the side. (like a normal google search page result except its only your pages displayed)

1) Here's a tutorial of how to create your own search box: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_can_...
2) Look up "Adsense for search"
3) Create a page on your site to display the search results.

Here's an example of mine: http://travelsa.cc/map-wc.php
Try searching for eg. "CapeTown" and see what happens.
Only the search results from my own site will appear.

You wouldn't say it was a Google Search would you?

yea, but that leaves out the customization part, I'd prefer to host my own if only I knew how.

How can I have certain things such as....

Search Web (whereas it searches google index - I already know this part)
Search Images (whereas it searches ONLY alternative text in the img tag)
Search Shopping (whereas it searches ONLY product names in the store)

etc.

Using a splicing feature like sitelevel offers isn't good enough. With sitelevel, you have the option of allowing the user to search parts of the website. But then you have to include the starting path mysite.com/path and it'll search mysite.com/path/anotherpath .... nice feature, but not what I'm looking for, I want to be able to customize where a search searches (not using url, but rather using the code such as searching through alternative texts - indicating an image), etc. Kind of like the yahoo search for example.

And your search box is just a site search box. I'm very satisfied with the site search I'm using (for plain site searches to search entire site) but the features I'm looking for aren't generally available through a service (Google or Sitelevel, etc.) I don't mind the hard work and the long hours to create it, it also doesn't have to be compatible with Yola (although if it was I'd use it on Yola too). I just need to know where to get started, maybe a tutorial or perhaps someone knows how to include these features. :)
