How do I skip the shipping address step in the shopping cart?

On-line we sell only classes taught at our store.  We take only paypal.  Our customers must come to us - so the shipping address step is irrelevant to our process and would be an annoying step for our customers when the information that they are currently forced to provide is never used in the transaction.

Can the shipping address step be skipped somehow?

We have disabled all shipping methods and have told it to calculate tax based on the Billing Address in an attempt to get it to skip the step - but now we can't even get past the Shipping step to the billing page.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Tom,

Have you set up your classes using the Online Store?  The Online Store allows you to sell digital or non-tangible goods such as files or classes.

If you're selling a service, or anything else that does not require delivery, you should leave the "weight" field empty, and uncheck the option "This product requires shipping" on the product editing page. When you do this, any shipping methods you may have will not be applied to your products and your visitors can then enter their billing addresses alone. The billing address, however, will always be required as many of the payment gateways require this information.

Please also note that the Online Store does not include a booking system. If the service you're selling requires an appointment, you would need to find a suitable solution to make that happen. Should you need to do this, one way to deal with bookings or appointments would be to either have your customers contact you directly via your phone number or by using a contact form to set up an appointment. You can also enable the Order Notes option and ask the user to provide contact information by customizing the caption.  The Order Notes box is enabled by going to System Settings > General > Cart > Order comments.  Order comments will be available in each order’s details on the Sales tab of the control panel.

The alternative would be to implement an online booking system. If you would like more information on how to do this, please let us know.
