How can I add a blog to my website?

I want to add a blog to my website. But I also want to add the blog so that when someone clicks on "Blog" in the navigation menu, it takes them to a new window also. I tried, but it takes me to a page that I don't want, and I have to delete my page each time I test it out, because sitebuilder won't allow me to delete the widget for some reason, even though I click OK. Help?

Hello jennskinn2,

If you want a blog on your website, you can create one right within Yola. Follow these steps to create a Blog:

1. Click on "Page" and then click "Add New Page"

2. For the Type, select "Blog" and enter a name for the page (you'll be able to change what displays in the navigation menu later)

3. You can enter a heading, and of course, you can change it later by clicking on it in the site builder.

4. Then click on "OK"

Yola will create the new page and when it is done, a New Post dialog will appear, so you can post your first Blog Post.

5. Once you post your first post, it will appear. You can always create another post by clicking on the yellow "New Post" button.

6. Now, you have your Blog!

Currently, it isn't possible to open a navigation link in a new window. I'm sorry about that.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Nathan

Regarding the problem with deleting a widget, it is probably an HTML code that you pasted somewhere on the page that is causing the page to not function properly. Could you try removing any HTML code that you may have added to the page? This might help.

Please let us know how this goes for you.

OK. I figured it out. I already had a blog that I wanted to open in a new window, but since that isn't possible, I will just go with what I had before without the code to open it in a new window. Thanks! :)

Hello Asheki,

The Yola Blog has been discontinued for new users for a couple of years so the instructions above are redundant for those new subscribers who wish to use a blog on their site.

The current recommendation is to use Tumblr which may be displayed on your Yola website by the use of the Tumblr Widget or by using another 3rd party blog and bring it into your site by the use of an iframe.
