Hi,

To change your subdomain name:
1) Click on the drop down arrow next to the yellow "Update my Site" button
2) Click on "Publishing Settings"
3) A dialog box will open up. Click on "Manage Your Domains"
4) Type in your new domain name and click "save"

Your site will then be published to your new domain.

Please get back to me if you have any difficulty with this.

Hello Chandru

If you published your site to a free yolasite domain name, you can change it any time and immediately by unpublishing your site and re-publishing it to another yolasite domain name which is available.

If you published your site to a custom paid domain name, you can't change it. What you can do is unpublish your site from it, then buy a new domain name and let us know that you want the old domain name to expire, so we can disable auto-renewal for it. In order to do this, it would be best if you send us an e-mail using our Contact Support Form, so we can verify your account ownership.

Hello Chandru

In order to edit the address of your business, click on the "Site" tab, and under "Site Properties", click on the "Business Location" icon. Make your edits in the dialogue box that opens and save. This will change the address of your location that displays in the footer of your website.
Ruth,

Thank you very much,it worked!

Hi John,

The thing about domains is that when you buy them, you are registering that specific domain and it's exact wording for a year. It's not really a product that you can change or alter at a later stage if you wanted to.

Because of that, if you wanted to change your domain, it would mean having to purchase another domain. This is unfortunately how all domains work, it's not specifically a Yola method.

If you would like to change your domain, you will need to purchase another one by following these steps:

1. Click on the down-arrow next to the yellow "Update My Site" button.
2. Click on "Publishing Settings".
3. Click on "Unpublish my Site".
4. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to unpublish your site. Click on "OK" and your site will be unpublished.
5. Then click on "Publish my Site", choose the domain you would like to purchase and follow the steps until your site is published.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
The instructions that Andre has given above are very outdated from an older version of the Sitebuilder. Can you tell me what you are looking to do and I can give you the proper instructions.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi John,

Not at all.

Remember your domain is separate from your website. It's just the address that points to it. Also, unpublishing your website is different from deleting your website.

When you unpublish your website, the entire website is still available in the site builder. You're just unpublishing the site from the internet momentarily.

Hi John,

If you wanted to purchase a second domain so that you could change your web address, then you would need to pay the $19.95 for that domain.

You would then own two domains:
-johnyapsphotography, and
-johnyapsphotos

This could actually prove quite helpful, you could point both those domains to your website. If users get confused or can't remember if the domain ends with "photography" or "photos", both would point them to the same website.

This is often something that website owners will do- they will purchase multiple domains that sound similar and point them all to the same website.

Hello Siva Nandham

You asked the folowing:

hi i want to edit my website to add some details to it..how can i edit?
for eg: iam going to add some text in one index,so im trying to drag the Text tool into my index but its not working !!! i dont know y..

is there any way to add some text in index?

I'm not sure what you mean by "index" - are you referring to the index page or something else?

What happens when you try to drag your Text Widget over? Are you getting a red line? If so, perhaps you have not yet found the drop zone on your screen for the widget.

* Jiggle the mouse around until you see the solid green line appear on your page and then release the mouse button.
* If that doesn't work, try closing your page and opening it again.
* Try clicking the refresh button or exiting and coming back in.
* If you still can't add widgets to your page, please let us know.

Please let us know if I have misunderstood your question.

Hi noor

The URL you provided is not a Yola website. We can only tell you how to change domain settings relating to a Yola website. Please post the domain that you published your Yola website to or write to support@yola.com using the e-mail address that you use to log into your Yola account.

Thanks!

Hi Joy,

If you have already registered your custom domain name, it cannot be changed as explained in the official response in this topic.
