Hi there Donald,

I am not too sure what a delorie.gif/htm page is.

If you are looking to add a new page to your site then here is how to do it.

1. Click on "New Page" - the button immediately to the right of the page tab.
2. A dialogue box will open up that will prompt you to give your page a name.
3. When you click "OK" a new page will be created and a link will automatically be added to your menu.

Please let me know if you had something specific in mind.

well... I found something online... I was told by a resource to indicate what google bot can and cannot read to view your site with Lynx as this is the most accurate of what google bot sees. So a program online called the lynx viewer will let you view your site as lynx would see it. But when you submit your url so you can view it, it states you do not have permission. To obtain this permission, create a delorie.htm or delorie.gif within your site but it does not explain how to do this.

Hi there Donald,
To be honest I am not sure of the Lynx viewer.
The .gif image is a "d" - that seems to be it - nothing more.
You can try adding it as an image (I see you can get it from the lynx site) and then see if it will recognize your site.

Please let me know how this goes.

The Lynx Viewer "does not explain how to do this":

The Lynx Viewer, which allows you to view your site as a search engine would, without scripts, images, etc, requires you to prove you are the site owner or administrator. That is why they ask that you upload a dummy file, an empty html file will do (call it delorie.html), or any gif file (call it delorie.gif). [I use a blank gif in case the image shows up in a Google image search; not likely, but just to be sure. . .]

Just create or upload one of those to your main directory (typically public_html) and then the Lynx Viewer will recognize your site and show you the text only, as well as links, so you can see what search engines are seeing.

Hello Anisul,
You won't be able to create a page on your site that has a .htm extension, each page will have a .php extension. Here is the actual URL of the page: http://my-familypic.yolasite.com/delo....

I am site http://www.onlinecheapshoppingcart.com , when i used lynx viewer i got this message. Not Permitted

You need to create a file called delorie.htm or delorie.gif on your web server to prove you're the webmaster. When I see this file (it can be empty) I'll allow my tools to access your site.

Attempted URL: http://www.onlinecheapshoppingcart.co... (not found)

Attempted URL: http://www.onlinecheapshoppingcart.co... (not found)

Because these tools act basically as proxies, it's important to make sure that the people using these tools are actually the developers of the pages they're viewing, and not just random visitors trying to bypass filters or hide their identities.

To this end, the delorie.com web tools will refuse to load any page unless they can determine that the author of the page has granted access to that page. If you are using the delorie.com web tools to work on your own pages, this should be simple. All you have to do is create another web page in the same location as the page(s) you're trying to view, called delorie.htm . It doesn't matter what's in it, it can be empty if you want - the fact that it exists is sufficient.

Example URLs you ask to view ("url" below) and the access file we try to view to see if it's allowed ("check" below):
