Hi everyone

The Paypal store facilities aren't really adequate for my products unfortunately, although it's great to start with I would like to make something more substantial & professional, so I'm looking for alternatives. I've just started creating a shop on 'freewebstore.com' but I don't know if I will be able to add this to my present site or not, I may have to do a link to it.

I just wanted to see if there are any other alternatives or if anyone else has any good ideas about this? Thanks.

Hi Forest,

Would you mind telling us what type of features you are looking to add to your Online Store? Maybe we will have alternative workarounds.

Are you looking at the online store widget only? If so you have another option with PayPal....You can make add to cart buttons with different options on their site then insert the code on your site for each product.

Hi Forest,

Google Checkout is another option; although not something like freewebstore.com. It is a checkout service that allows you to process orders and charge credit or debit cards for free. Google Checkout is not integrated into the Site Builder, but you can use it by utilizing the HTML widget. Here are some instructions that will help you set this up if you would like to give it a try:

To get started please to go to Google Checkout.

You will need to follow through the process of setting up an account; if you all ready have an account with Google for other services such as Email, Analytics, AdSense or AdWords you will be able to use this account, although you will need to add additional information, such as Personal Contact Information, Public Contact Information and Product Type and Financial Information (this will require a valid credit card).

When you agree to Google's Terms of Service and the sign up is complete, you will be able to set up how you want to integrate Google Checkout with your site. You can easily set up "Buy Now" buttons which can be set up to sell multiple versions of a product. To create "Buy Now" buttons click on the "Buy Now Buttons" link.

You will be able to set up a "Basic Button" with one option, or a "Button With Options". You will then be able to give your item a name, description and price. Once you have completed your button click "Create Button Code" and you will get a block of code.

To add this button to your site:

1. Copy and paste the block of code that was created.
2. Log into your Site Builder.
3. Drag and drop an HTML widget onto your page where you want the button to appear.
4. Paste in the code.

Note: If you would like to put this button next to the picture of a product you can drag and drop a two column widget onto the page and drag and image widget onto one side and an HTML widget onto the other (putting the button code in the HTML widget).

You can create as many buttons as you would like; simply remove the product information from the fields, add new product information and click "Create Button Code."

Click on the "Settings" Tab to specify a bank account where you would like the payments to go. There are other ways you can use Google Checkout on your website such as with a pre-integrated shopping cart. Please look around Google Checkout to see if there are other ways you would like to use it.

Here is a link to the Google Checkout Merchant Help Website where you will be able to find a variety of help topics.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi

Thanks for all the useful info.

I would like to offer variations of a product (e.g. sizes) and I would also like to have categories to organise my products into, otherwise it just looks like one long list.
I don't know if the button thing will really do the job??

Thanks for the Google Checkout info but I won't be able to use this as I no longer use credit cards :(

Hi Forest,

Unfortunately the Yola Online Store widgets don't yet offer this feature. However, you can add to your site by visiting PayPal - http://www.paypal.com and customizing the code so that you can have a size selection on your site. Here's how:

1. Sign into your [PayPal](http://www.paypal.com) account.
2. Click the "Merchant services" tab in the horizontal menu.
3. Click the "Buy Now Button" or the "Add to Cart Button".
4. Choose button type and enter name and payment details.
5. Check the "Add drop-down menu with price/option" box half-way down the page.
6. Add the details of your selection.
7. Click "Done".
8. When done editing click "Create Button".
9. In the next window and in the (Website) code box click the "Select Code".
10. Right click on the highlighted text and click "Copy".
11. Open your site editor and drag an HTML widget where you need it.
12. In the HTML widget paste the code.
13. Then Update your site.
