Can I buy a domain from someone else, and then switch it to Yola for operation? Including paying the yearly Yola fee. My preferred domain name is already taken and being sold somewhere else, but I love Yola! : /

Hello Pamela

I'm glad that you love Yola. But if someone owns it, you can't get it because then if you go to the domain name, which site does it go to? They other person's or yours?

Thats why it wont work. If they don't pay the payment in about a year, then you can buy the domain name!

But, if you don't get the domain you want, just add in something else.

If you need any assistance on this, please do ask! :)

Well, I think the domain I want is for sale, it's on GoDaddy.com. It says something like "Buy this domain name, we'll help you!" So, I think maybe I can. But, once I own it, can I operate it from Yola? I like the site builder here, and the yearly fee is really great! I don't understand the rules of this internet stuff. : P Haha

And, if that's not an option at all, Yola does have the same words I want available with .net, .org, .biz, and several others. I'd really prefer .com since I think it's easiest for my customers to remember. What do you think about that? Is it really a big deal, should I even be worried about that? I'd rather work with Yola, so if I can buy this other domain and then operate it here, I'd love that! But if not, maybe I'll just settle for a .net or something else. Advice? : )

Hi Pamela

It isn't really on sale on GoDaddy, you'll have to pay lots of money for it (put down an offer) and if the current owner accepts the money you offer then it will be yours.

Regarding operating your domain from Yola, do you have Yola Silver? If so, you can operate it from Yola. If not, you can transfer the domain to Yola if you get the domain name.

If you need any more info on this, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Nathan

Okay, so if I do get it from GoDaddy, then I can transfer it to Yola? Even without Yola Silver? I don't have Yola Silver, but what I do currently have, I'm really happy with. : ) I have a domain here, and it's been working great for me. It's actually for the same business that I'm looking for this new domain name, since I'm changing my business name. So I know what I already have will work for me. Although, Yola Silver does look great! I'm interested in it, but I don't have the extra money. Definitely not if I go and pay a bunch extra for the domain GoDaddy is selling. : / Maybe I should go with the .net or something else that Yola already has.

Thanks Nathan for your help on this.

Hi Pamela

I suggest going the Yola Silver route as this gives you 1 free domain credit as well as one year of domain privacy. There are also other really fantastic features included! For more info, please see Yola Silver FAQs.

I checked that out, it does look really good! I don't know if I'll be able to get it or not, depending how much this other domain costs me from GoDaddy, but thanks for the tip! : )
