I would like to be able to use the full space available but the css container stops me doing this, even with editing that piece of code.

There is a post similar to my problem but doesn't seem to be fully answered.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi, Gary,

Remember the "full page" is relative to the user's screen. So my full page is 1920 x 1080 while someone else may have 1024 x 768. Most of our templates are designed to fit within 1024 x 768 as this is the average screen resolution (right now).

If you let us know your url, the style you are using and what you are trying to accomplish, we may be able to suggest something.

I would like my header to stretch the full width of the page, like on these two pages the menu stretches across the full screen, this is the look I am trying to accomplish.

Hi Gary,

There are a number of templates that you could use to get the effect you're after.
Of the free templates, Clean Slate would work well. Basically you can use any horizontal menu template easiest without a central insert but this can be disguised with some code.

The Header is easily manipulated even if it really won't extend across the whole page. The second example you have given in fact does not but the use of a line extending across gives the appearance that it does. You can also use images as a total background or a single background colour. these all have the effect of appearing as if the canvas is right across the page.

Elements can be moved out of the default margins by moving the left margin with a negative number for that element. Some of the widgets and placeholders have a margin manipulation thing others you use some code. If you wish to place a title of any kind above the menu then you can do this by using a margin move to the top with a negative number. (Firebug really helps here as you get a fairly accurate idea in the published version and manipulating the elements with firebug.)
