hello james,

This may be a better alternative for you.
http://getsatisfaction.com/yola/topic...
marking your own page as a home page is browser dependent generally holds little interst and not all browsers allow it.

The share this is quite viral and tends to bring in more people because of the sharing facility.

Good luck

Home page buttons are difficult - as far as i know the only ones available work only in Internet explorer - Plus users often use something generic like google as a starting point to the internet - i use cross browser bookmark buttons on my site, would this be acceptable?

Hi there James,

You can add this code to your site in an HTML widget to add a button that others can use to make your site their home page, here is the code.
Unfortunately as far as I know it will only work with Internet Explorer.
(NOTE: replace the www.yourname.com with the address of your site.)

<FORM>
<INPUT TYPE="button" VALUE="Make This Site Your Home Page" onClick="this.style.behavior='url(#default#homepage)'; this.setHomePage('http://www.yourname.com/');&quot;&gt;
</FORM>

I hope this helps.

Remeber James its going to be a redundant button for thousands of users.
I would take the bookmark route.
<!--
<a title="Bookmark this site" href="javascript:bookmarksite('Hexham Information',
'http://hexham.info')">&lt;img style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" src="resources/bookmark.jpg" border="0"></a>

change 'hexham information' into whatever text you like to describe your site.
change http:// hexham.info to your site address
add a image to your filemanager and change the src="resources/YOURIMAGE.jpg" to your own image name.

Lee.

see it working here http://hexham.info

The Duke, (Lee) I agree with you - The bookmark route would be a better option as a lot of users would be unable to use it.
Thanks for pointing it out.

Here is what I use for my site. It is for adding the site to the users favorites:

<!--
<a href="javascript:window.external.AddFavorite('http://mysite.com/', 'Site Title');">Add to favorites</a>
-->

Hi James

I noticed in your page source, you have MSO formatting (Word Formatting). This can cause a number of problems in your site. I suggest that you copy your text into Notepad (this strips away all inherent formatting) and then copy and paste into a new text widget. This may resolve your above issues. Even if it doesn't, I strongly recommend that you do this anyway as you will most likely run into future problems. For any further text that you copy from Word or other sources, please be sure to paste into Notepad first.

Please let us know if you have further questions or need clarification regarding this. =)

@ James and Lambofgod,

SORRY - My bad - I forgot you need to add the actual java file to the top of the page.

go here http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicin...

where it says - add this to the head section of your page 'Select All' -
Add that code to the top of the page in a html widget.

You will see it works then - sorry again, i forgot about that bit- Lee.

So it does! =) I used the FF addon tool where you can switch browsers on the tab. Perhaps, that's why it didn't work? Anyway, when I actually opened up the IE and did it that way, it worked perfectly! Sorry for the alarm.
