Hello behrooz,

There are about 4 ways that can do this.

You can put in a direct link to anotehr web-site within your navigation detail.
You can do a meta-refresh which can be immediate or delayed
You can do a permanent re-driect.

There is a 4th using a javascript re-direct which is not advised for some practical reason.

Methods 1 and 2 may cause your site to be penalised by search engines. The reason being is that it can be used maliciously.

Method 3 is the preferred method but Yola don't support this..

So brings you back to method 1 and 2.

I prefer method 1 as it allows you to edit your navigation whereas an immediate meta-refresh even will effect a transfer while you are in the sitebuilder. Some browsers will prevent a meta-refresh if configured and if this occurs some users can show their displeasure and leave your site.

Hi behrooz.arvanaghi,

Method 1 is the easiest. Glad you asked :)

After you create a page then you go:

Page>Page manager>edit the page nav title you want to redirect simply by using this
<a href="http://domainname to redirect to/page">Navigation Title link</a>

The "Navigation Title link" will be the same as your page name to keep it as uncomplicated as possible.

an example would be <a href="http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/how_can_i_link_a_left_menu_item_directly_to_an_external_website">How can I link a left menu item directly to an external website?</a>.

Which would link a navigation tab of your site to this specific Forum question with the name: How can I link a left menu item directly to an external website?

I forgot to add the code for opening the link in a new tab. This is important I think in this case. It's an immediate reminder and a visual cue route back to your primary site.

<a href="http://domainname to redirect to/page" target="_blank">Navigation Title link</a>

Thanks again. It seems that there is a max limitation 80 chars for the field Label. for me that means that I cannot put det URL I want into the field. Do you have any work around for that?

Yes. I think that this will work but you will need to research the supply of the service. There are URL shortening services out there for free so set it up with one of these and then use the short URL as your domain. Basically they create an alias name of the URL within a handful of characters. The page can be included within the shortener I believe. I haven't used this service for about two years so I'm not up with any developments which may have occured.

Keep your Nav Title link as short as possible.

Good luck

Hi Gop
Great. I did not know about URL shortening services. Now it works.
