Shipping>User define methods> New Shipping method.

Name : UK post 1 item
Weight Limit: 0 -1 lb
Price per Order:£1

New Shipping Method: UK Post 2 items
Weight limit: 1.01 - 2 lb
price per order: £2

etc: 2.01-3lb, £3;
3.01 - 4lb, £4;
4.01 to 5lb, £5; {up to 5 items(5 lb)}

Then
New Shipping Method: UK Post more than 5 items.
Weight limit: 5.01 - 40 lb ( 40 lb is example only)
Price per order: £0

Please note that each definition begins with X + 0.01 lbs otherwise you can get conflicts.

Your zones should already be set up and referred to in the lower box of each shipping method definition.

Hope this helps. Anything else please ask. if this doesn't work or I haven't explained it clearly then please make a screen shot and paste it here with any annotation to help.

PS: the weight unit with Royal is the gram and the separation is 250 gm but use 500 gm as the step. If you use lb weight then you may come unstuck and undercharge for postage I think. The real cost difference may be pennies of course and it is then irrelevant. I'd love to know the story behind the RM's shipping charges... there has to be one! :)

OK Rick hopefully I can point you to the logic,

You have to place additional zone(s) into the system.

in this case then you would create a Zone called World (you probably have)
you then have to add in all the countries minus the UK (? minus EU countries). if you are separating Europe from the rest of the world then you would create a zone for Europe and include all the countries of Europe (There's a handy facility included which can shortcut the countries addition)

Then you have to create shipping charges for each country (usually grouped for the purpose of postal charges by the provider) and a postage rule calculation criteria.

This then is really a matrix which the program steps through until it finds the first occurrence of correct country and then over to shipping charges and compares the weight of the item(s) to the rule set up.

Hope this helps and call out if I need to clarify anything with you.

With countries it's important to use the listed name of the country for input. That's why there is generally a drop down list when people add their countries address. eg: Laos is a country some would write Laos Peoples Democratic Republic, Laos PDR and others Lao, intuitively. Only one will be matched and that will be confirmed by the Country dropdown when the customer fills in their address or maybe their PayPal subscription. There's no room for error on this but well taken care of unless you take shortcuts testing Shipping Fees

if however a country isn't found in the Zone setup then I have no idea what happens. maybe escapees are returned to the motherland and have to pay a £5 tiket; £10 to Australia and Free for Thailand.
This I will have to look up.
