How can I print out my home page properly?

My site does not seem to print properly. A couple of days ago I wanted to print out my home page so that I could show it to a non-technical friend over lunch. What printed out, though, was a much-distorted version of that page. When you look at my page on the
Web, there is a little design near the top, where the title of the site also appears. (I'm using the Spheroids theme). Below that are the navigation links, all nicely centered in a couple of rows. The printed page didn't look anything like that -- the Spheroids banner/ design was missing entirely, and the nav links were all printed in a long column at the left margin of the page -- totally unattractive, and not at all representative of how my page actually looks.

I didn't realize it, but I guess this is a fairly universal issue? (I just tried printing out one page of this forum, and got a similar result.) How can I get my home page to print out accurately, so that I can show it off to people who don't spend much time on the Web?

Okay, it's looking to me like I can do this only by taking a screenshot - is that correct?

Hi Keara,

I don't have a printer where I am, so am not really able to test this. However, I did find this information that might help.

The banner image is treated as a background image. Whether or not the background image is printed depends on your browser settings. You will have to change your browser settings if you want to print your web page with your banner image.

Here is a link to a set of instructions on how to configure Internet Explorer to print background images: Background Printing in Internet Explorer.

If you are using Firefox, try these instructions: Configure Firefox Printing Options.

If that doesn't help, then I would say the best option would be to take a screen shot of the page, as you have done, and then print the image.

Kind Regards,

I can't seem to print the full page of my website. I've tried adjusting the page settings in the Print menu of Firefox, but only a portion of the page gets printed (typically only 30%-40% of the page).

How do I fix this?

Hello Martin,

I think the best suggestion is to take a screenshot of your page and then print the image as Emmy has suggested. It is very difficult to print webpages. I hope you can use the screenshot suggestion.
