Hello Mark

You would need to implement a CSS hack to remove your banner area. If you'd like to do this, please let me know what style you are using and I will see if I can create one for you.

Hi guys! To remove the banner, just drag over an HTML widget and paste this in:

<style type="text/css">

#sys_banner {
display:none;
}

</style>

I hope this helps!

@Nathan, Thanx! That's the most simplest trick to do that and I am glad I found out here..Btw, how to use a flash .swf instead of the banner image? I mean, yes I have removed the banner image using the style but there is this shade which comes right under the banner image..So to make a better look, I am wondering to put a flash .swf on the place where the banner image usually locates. Possible?

NOTE: If you use this code then you don't need:

<style type="text/css">

#sys_banner {
display:none;
}

</style>

Try using this code:

<script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.3.js'></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var swf = ' <b>PUT FLASH HERE</b> '

$(document).ready(function(){
$('#sys_banner').css('display','none');
$('#around').attr('align','center');
$('#sys_banner').after('<div id="around"><center><div id="item"></div></center></div>');
$('#item').html(swf);
});
</script>

Setting up the code:

1. Find, var swf = ' <b>PUT FLASH HERE</b> '
2. Delete <b>PUT FLASH HERE</b>
3. Put you Swf in it (Make sure its only one line)

Correct:

var swf = ' SWF IS TO BE PLACED HERE AND NOWHERE ELSE '

Wrong:

var swf = ' SWF IS
TO BE PLACED
HERE AND NOWHERE
ELSE '

Please tell me if you need any help.

Shawn

Hi gmmokhiber,

I have had a play with the Clean style and here's the code that enabled me to remove the banner.

Your site CSS for the banner looks like this:

<!--

#sys_banner
{
background: url(http://s3.yolacdn.net/V0021381/templa...) 0 0 no-repeat;
height: 218px;
width:863px;
}

-->

I added the display: none; rule to the end and it worked perfectly. Here's what my CSS looks like:

<!--

#sys_banner
{
background: url(http://s3.yolacdn.net/V0021381/templa...) 0 0 no-repeat;
height: 218px;
width:863px;
display: none;
}

-->

Let me know how that works for you.

Hello Francois,

You could just show the code as:

#sys_banner {
display:none;
}

As this removes any unecessary code that would slow down the site's loading speed.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

By any chance does it just not show up properly in "Preview" mode? I'm testing out the Clean style with a free account before I upgrade to Silver so I can only view changes by clicking Preview, where I'm still having the same issue:

Hi gmmokhiber,

I have now tested this in sitebuilder, preview and published modes and I can confirm that the banner is gone in all 3. I made the change as Andi suggested and it definitely works.

Let me know how it goes for you.

Have you tried the code Nathan posted above?

To remove the banner, just drag over an HTML widget and paste this in:

<!--

<style type="text/css">

#sys_banner {
display:none;
}

</style>

-->

@kade.mcc: Remember to copy the code without the <!-- and --> if you didn't know. :) That is just to make the code not render on this forum.

The display:none; should make the space go away. Try this instead:

<style type="text/css">
#sys_banner, .ys_banner {
display:none !important;
}
</style>

If this doesn't work, could you post your site's URL so I could take a look? Thanks.

Actually Diane, that would not work as I tried in Google Chrome Developer Tools and it removes the Navigation, try this instead:

div#sys_background {
height:65px !important;
}

This removes the black space for you.

Andi, I generally don't offer something unless I've tried it myself. It worked fine for me and left the navigation.

I tried in Google Chrome Developer Tools, and the Navigation disappeared. It might be a browser issue or just me being tired and making a mistake!

Andi, that last code helped. It made the banner disappear, taking with it the background that was previously left.

But i still need to add a bit height to take it all away. The only problem being now, is that my navigation bar has disappeared. Is this because i have my navigation .css sprite image placed in the page heading section? I have a feeling that it might be that?

This community is awesome and i appreciate everyones help here :)

Hello Kade,

You can just remove a banner from one page but this will need to be done via your HTML Widget, not through the Site CSS.

It would need style codes. For example:

<style type="text/css">
your code goes in here
</style>
Photo of kade.mcc

kade.mcc

  • 19 Posts
  • 0 Reply Likes
That code simply removes the banner. I need to remove the space that it has left behind too.

@Jornes: I want to remove the banner from http://www.startrkade.co.uk/rkade-world -that page only. When entering the above code, it removes the banner, and is replaced with the background colour. It does not remove the space left behind which is my problem. I would like the slidedeck just underneath the navigation menu.

Thanks everyone so far :)

You have an error on your site code yourself.

You cant add another body, html, head tag or doctype into the HTML widget

You added this code:

Kade MCC,
I've found you have double

<html>
</html>

<title>
</title>

<head>
</head>

and

<body>
</body>

on your site. Please remove them. You don't need to add them by yourself as they are already there included in the site-builder.

About your banner on that page, i suggest you to copy the code below and paste the code on your site by dragging an html widget.

<style type="text/css">
#sys_banner{
display:none;
height:0;
width:0;
}
</style>

Hope this helps!

Thanks Shawn, I have now switched that code.

Jornes, Where are these double tags found so I can remove them? I have been using Dreamweaver to edit my content and this is where the problem has come from it seems.

I have added in the banner code and it has been removed, but the space is still there. So i will wait til after i remove the double tags that you mentioned to judge whether i still have the same problem.

Thanks to Shawn and Jornes for you much needed help for a newbie to Yola :)
