How can I see only my domain in address bar, without the Yolasite name?

how do I change the domain address so it only shows my site, no the yolasite subdomain?

I was doing it with "forward with masking" from my GoDaddy registrar, but was having problems with Google Analytics afterwards.

Now I'm doing it by following Yola's tutorials, and whenever I type www.igottasellfast.com, I see the full igottasellfast.yolasite.com in the address bar. Is there a way to only see my domain name? I'll do whatever it takes!

Thanks for your time.

did you purchase your domain yet?

If you did, in the godaddy account manager (where it lists your sites), click on the advanced domain settings link. All the way at the bottom it says, "total dns control" and it's a clickable link. Click on that... Click add new record to the right... under the "host name" type @ and points to Ip address, use yola's ip address.... 208.75.208.172

Then click ok... delete the previous record that points to a different ip address... within minutes it should be pointed to yola sometimes as much as an hour or two (but not likely). When you publish your site, click on the down arrow next to the update site button... and click publishing settings, click the option to publish to your own domain... then type in your domain name and click the check button... after you check the domain and it's available and pointed to yola, the submit button will enable... click on that...

Let me know if it seems I left something out or you need help... I'm not looking at godaddy or yola right now, so it's a possibility I forgot a step. :) hope you get it to work. Ask if you need further assistance.

Hello provencher.marc

I have responded to your email in support but I'll post here as well so that others may also benefit from this question you asked.

The reason why your top-level domain is redirecting to your yolasite subdomain is because your site is published to both a subdomain and your own domain. In your DNS settings, your subdomain is primary, so it redirects automatically to the subdomain. You can change this easily.

Here's how to change the primary domain used on your site:-

1. Login to your account on Yola.
2. On the My Sites page, scroll to the bottom and check the box next to "Enable Advanced Domain Settings".
3. Scroll back up to the top and click on the link "Advanced Domain Settings".
4. A new page will open, and you will see a list of domains assigned to your site. To reassign a domain as "Primary Domain", choose which domain you would like to be the Primary domain and click on "Click to Apply Changes".

This will be the canonical (primary) domain and the one the other domains will redirect to.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any difficulty with these instructions.

I have a similar situation that hopefully someone can help with.
I have a current .com.au registered, I have built the Yola site with .yolasite in the subdomain, I have published my Yola site, I have pointed the DNS records of my Australian host to Yola's I.P., I have told My Yola to show the new site so everything is perfect until....
I log into my site studiod.com.au and it redirects to studiod.yolasite.com so I want to have the URL show as studiod.com.au. Can someone please tell me how.
Please remeber that it is a .com.AU site. I bought Silver Yola before I realised that Yola doesn't host .com.au so please don't suggest that Yola take over the hosting because they can't - cross that off the list.
Hope to hear from anyone soon
Cheers

Thanks Gop
That was the one point I forgot to include.
I did try this method but the result, as far as I can tell, is that my old site becomes visible again. So when I change back to the 'show subdomain' option I can see my new Yola site.
So if I nominate studiod.com.au as primary I get my old website appearing but if I nominate studiod.yolasite.com then my new website appears.
Do I need to wait for the new site to propogate or am I doing something wrong or is this what happens?
Cheers

OK I understand.

This means that effectively your site hasn't been published yet to your .com.au domain.

Try this which is related. Assigning Domains and creating a Primary site.

Your site should appear within seconds to minutes but if you have only just pointed your domain then this domain may take a while to go through. usually not but certainly well recognised.

Patience is a virtue.
Thanks again Gop. I videoed the process as I did it just in case I need to use it to help the situation but by the time I finished with the camera and refreshed the page it was sorted.
