Don't say it's not possible because get satisfaction does it all the time. A topic posted within the last 15 minutes is number 1 in google.

I thought it took longer than that just to get indexed.

google have different crawl rates set for differnet sites - not evry page they publish will get indexed so quick.

The higher your page rank and depending on the conet of your site it will get indexed at a faster crawl rate.

yea, but within minutes?

So let me get this right... if I was to get a high page rank then I'll have a "faster" indexing process?

you must've checked the wrong ranking. We are talking about http://prchecker.info. Ten is the best and I highly doubt any yola user has 10... the best websites don't usually have ten... very, very hard to get to 10. Your website on prchecker.info is N/A and will probably remain N/A as long as you have a subdomain. My 9 month old subdomain is still N/A while my primary domain (same site but not subdomain) is a 0. When we talk about "rank" we don't mean searching google and are far up the list you are. I'm guessing when you say you checked your ranking in google you probably "googled" bill manson, or bill manson poetry right? And then got number 10 on the list? But if you typed in Poetry, you're probably 6 million. Having a high page rank (based on prchecker.info) will determine how well you're indexed such as how high up the list and with "common" words such as poetry instead of "uncommon" words such as bill manson poetry.

If a site has PR0, it is usually a penalty, and it would be unwise to link to it.

Is it true that a Page Rank of 0 usually means a site has been penalized? Mine's a zero... why would I be penalized? Anyone that wants to examine my site and figure out why, please let me know.

Maybe I have too many links to bad, spamming, or PR0 sites?

If I checked all my links and ONLY linked to a PR4 or higher, would this improve my chances of a high page rank?

Hi Donald,

I just did some searching for information on how page rank is determined and there is a soooo much information out there on how this works, it might just take some reading up on how this is measured and how to increase your own page rank. I would however definitely say that linking to, and being linked to, from higher PR sites is better than lower PR sites.

As always, the more good things you do for your site in the area of link building, content adding, and optimizing the content so the search engines are aware of the topic is the best way to move forward with SEO and increase your PR in the process.

yes, I was reading that sites linking to you don't matter because you can't really control who links to you so you don't get penalized but you can control who you link to so this can affect your rank. It recommends never linking to PR0 sites and suggests you should try to keep the sites you link to at PR4 or higher, I just went through my external links and got rid of anything less than a 5 which surprisingly was only 15 links out of over 56. I want to see if this helps over the next two weeks. Maybe I was penalized for linking to a known spamming site or something.

Does the page rank though, ultimately determine your indexing? This is my main concern.

What's considered a link farm? I was told link farms aren't good for indexing... having a "links" page isn't considered a link farm is it?

I read somewhere that, the first time you publish your site is "the best it will ever be".
It starts at PR0 and goes down after that if you do not work at promoting it.
It's a bit like treading water... If you stop... you sink. Hope that makes sense and I'm not even sure if my analogy is correct. That's just the way I visualise it.

You got to keep swimming and swimming (SEO) to reach the rocks before you can start climing up that cliff. The step from PR0 to PR1 is double and to get to PR2 is double PR1 etc. etc. So....to move from let's say PR2 to a PR3 is a massive step.

And...if my reasoning is correct a PR3 site would therefore be 8 times more "popular" than a PR0 site, and a PR4 site would be 16 times more "popular" etc. etc.

Am I correct in my reasoning Emmy?

ok... so then how do sites get to 9 and 10? That's gotta be a lot of hard work. I even know of sites that don't even focus on SEO... like wikipedia which rank extremely high in the search engines, have a PR9, and 96% on websitegrader.... but yet they don't use keywords, they don't have meta descriptions, etc.

but lots and lots of people link to wikipedia. Links are the key. Having people link to you is like having people vote for your site in Google's eyes.

yea, and as far as indexing, I've read in a couple of places the most important aspect is traffic because it shows likeness and success and wikipedia's like number 4 in alexa. My goal is number 1 LOL :)

yes, when I'm number 1 I'll link to your site and you'll probably get 10,000 visitors a day from my site... do I get a commission for all your new traffic you'll get? LOL

but I still don't know how they can score so high without optimizing... I've ran websitegrader on them and they don't use keywords, they don't have a blog, they don't have conversion forms, they don't use meta descriptions and all this stuff is supposedly suppose to count in indexing, website scores and rankings.

I think they're bribing google with the 7.5 million dollars they make a year and only 32 paid employees. - well, they made $6,739,370 last year and have a goal of $7.5 million this year.
