I am trying to add a drop-down box so that people will be shown a list of choices, and have to make one pick in each box... when you click on "submit" the site will automatically send me an email with the choices made.... show me how to do this or point me to the full instructions please.

Hello Chris

The Yola Form may be just the thing you need! It features many ways of adding options including a drop-down menu along with the ability to submit the form to your desired email.

For more information on how to incorporate this into your site, please take a look at our tutorial: Yola Form Widget

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if it does not.

hhuumm.. it "kinda does"...
Maybe I can tell you what I need it to do and you can tell me how to go about it

Lets say I have a list of 15 different things... and I need people to pick 5 of them (if possible no more and no less... but I can work around that.)
I saw the widget where it had "multiple choice".. but that seemed more like where I list several items, and people pick ONE out of that list.
If I can make one list where people can make 5 choices out of 15 options thats would be cool...
If I can't do that... I can make the same list 5 times, and have someone pick one item from each list... either a drop down box,.. or a multiple choice list.

Another issue I am having is that I'l like to have all 5 of the forms on one horizontal row,.. instead of a verticle line one over the other. How would I change that too. Maybe I need to change how the form is laid out.??

Maybe this gives you some more into to help me
OH... I just want to be able to click "submit ONE time, and all the info be sent to me in one email

THANKS

Hi Chris

The Yola Form allows you to select only 1 item from the drop-down list. If you require that your visitors select 5 items, this will require a bit of development to be done and it is not on our roadmap for the near future.

I know this is not exactly what you would like to do, but as a workaround, you can add the same drop-down in 5 separate drop-down boxes, that have the same options. Here is an example of my suggestion:

I hope that this can work for you. If you have any more questions or need more help, please let us know.

Thank you

OK.. that might work...
I am curios about one thing... lets say I make the 5 separate drop down boxes... can I have only ONE submit button to make then 'work',
In other words would the person have to click on submit for EACH drop down box,... thus creating 5 emails for the answers to the boxes.

The real end results is have 5 'A' groups... same list of options in those... then have 4 B groups with a different set of options (than the A group),.. and two C groups... a total of 11 drop down boxes. I am wanting it to send me ONE email with all the answers to the drop down boxes on it.

I built a site here... and this is what I want it to look like, and how to function.
http://pickup-guy.tripod.com/racegame...

For some reason I can still "see" this page on the site it is out,.. but when I log in it doesn't exist so I can edit it, and update it..
So I am looking to basicaly do the same thing... just here on your site

IF.. your site can't do this,.. could you point me to someplace that I could do it. A free site is necessary since I am on disability, and this is a "fun" site and no money is generated off of it
Thanks for any help

Hello Chris,
Thanks for your message. You can certainly create multiple drop down boxes within one Yola form. If you do this, your site visitor will only be submitting one form containing all of their selections. It will look very similar to the example you have provided.
Cheers!

Thanks for the quick replies... very nice service.
Now I have worked on the page some more and am having issues. I am not receiving the email that has the persons pick.

My "home" page is here
http://fantasynascarracin.yolasite.com/

It seems to be OK. I got the navigation tab entered so people can click on it and go to the PICKS page. The link for it is here
http://fantasynascarracin.yolasite.co...

I assume the web links are correct.?? I also checked my email address and it is listed correctly.
Can you look this over and let me know what you see is wrong (feel free to go into where you edit the page.)
I wasn't sure where to put the "submit" button so I put it at the very end.

I assume I was correct in deleting the submit on each form that I entered.
I am proud of the site, and I have put LOTS of work into it... just have to figure out how to get it to work.
THANKS again

Hello Chris

I understand what you're trying to do with the Yola Form. However, there are a few things that might not work so well doing it this way. First of all, the submit button will only work for the form that contains the button. You can still hit enter for the other form widgets and it will still send but you end up getting 3 separate forms being sent to you. As each form widget does not contain a name or email field, you will not know who actually sent the form.

Please take a look at my test form I created which I think would be more in line with what you want to do: http://testingab.yolasite.com/form.php

OK.. this looks like it would work perfect...
Now my only questions is how did you do that.. and what makes it work.. I guess I need more detail as far as how as how it is all assembled

Not wanting you to do all the work.. just need some tips on how to get started

Hey Chris

Have a look at my screenshot which I hope will help to show you how I did this.

For your Pick "A" drivers, I add the drop down option and put in the title. Then I dragged another drop down option but left the title blank.

Then for your next category - the Pick "B" Drivers, I just added the drop down list option again but this time added the title.

I hope that helps!

OK I must be missing something simple...
On the link you posted a couple comments above
http://testingab.yolasite.com/form.php
This looks to be the best option...
However.. I can't get the widget to 'load" more than one drop down box in a row. (or in a column for that matter.)

I am using the 'layout' that is 3-over-1. I assume that isn't a problem...
It seems when I drop in a widget,.. I can only put in one item per column.
I don't see any way to make the row "stretch" (taller) so I can put to forms in the same row... but then it just "automatically" makes a new row when I drag it over... It don't seem to give me an option to put two or three forms on the same row.?

If I got to "Forms & Appointments" over on the right side of the page... then click on "Form" and drag it into my work area... it automatically adds a new column.. and won't let me put more than any one item per row.
SO I see what you did in the link you provided... but it won't let me do that

SO I'm as confused as to how you did what it shows..
If I could get more than one form to load into the same column... I could finish building the link (making sure it emails me issues 'could' come later) LOL
THANKS

Hi, Chris,

It sounds like you are trying to drop more than one form widget. What Sanja did was within one form widget itself. Click on Edit on the upper left of the form widget and you should be able to add another drop down option. I hope this makes sense.

yeah.. I was under the impression I needed a form widget for each thing to be selected..

Off to bed for tonight.. I'll give this a try tomorrow

OH.. I need to ask this.. In the process of making it so that the person only has to click on "submit" one time... what is gonna happen when I have to have one type of form widget (say for someone name (an area they fill in)... then for the other widgets (with drop down menu) Right now if I try to add a drop down menu into the row where I have my name (single line) widget it won't let me do that
Just wanted to ask.. maybe that will be a problem solved for me in advance

LISTEN.. sorry for so much trouble with all this... you all have been great helping me.

Hello Chris

In hopes to help you out more, I have created a test page for you in your site which contains the same set up as I have done on my site. Please take a look and I hope that clears up the confusion.

OK... I had an idea of what you were trying to say when I quit last night... the "test" looks pretty much like I understood.

I THINK we are getting there... Could you look at my site and make sure I am on the right track before I do all the work to finish it up (lots of typing to keep doing over and over) HAHAHAH

Finally.. on the "picks page".. I went online and made picks, and then got the message "submitted successfully"... but no email ever shows up with the list of choices.. If I can get that fixed I think we'll have it licked. I'm at a total lose with not getting the emails..???
Thanks ever so much

hhuumm.. OK
I think I have everything set up, assembled, and done as it is supposed to be...
Can you check and see if I do...
ALL I need to do is to get the email to work... I've tried several times to pick and have it submit to my email... so far nothing.
If I can get that working I think we'll have all the basics done.
PLEASE, please please help.....

Hello Chris

Can you please check that you are using the correct email address and also check that it is not arriving in your spam folder. If you are still not seeing anything, please also try using a different email address. I have checked on my side and my form submissions came very quickly. I hope the same is true for you.

Please keep us updated on what happens.

ok..
hhuumm
The original email was correct
I changed the email it should go to just as a test...
still not receiving any emails.. :-(

I use Microsoft Outlook Express for email.
It doesn't have a "Spam" folder where stuff automatically goes if the email system 'thinks" it is spam (like the Yahoo email system does).. so don't think it's in any type of spam area. To the best of my knowledge it all comes to my inbox.

I could add the email address that the emails will come from so I know my email server sees it..... but I don't know what that is until I actually get an email... hahahha
We're close.. just have to figure out the email thingy

Hello Chris

It is possible that the glitch is on our side. I will need to check our database to see if the emails have been sent. Please leave this with me and I will get back to you. Thanks for your patience.

Hello Chris

Thanks for your patience. I have checked our database and can confirm that a number of form submissions have been successfully sent on our end. It would appear that the issue may lie with your email service provider. I would contact them to see if they can help resolve this issue. I had another person who also experienced the same problem and was able to successfully resolve this with their email service provider. I hope that the same will happen to you.

OH.. they are probably going to want to know "where" the email is coming from... could you drop me a private email and let me know what I should tell them.
Seems back when I was with Charter I had the problem (I was sending to people and them not receiving) I know it had something to so with the "Charter" server not talking to the "Yahoo" server that time.
I am guess we think it is kind of the same thing this time..
But I remember Yahoo had to know "who" was haing problem before they would investigate it.
since I have never received an email from the site,.. I have no idea what to tell them
again... thanks very much

woohoo woohoo got it working.. You folks are the best
GREAT BIG thumbs up.

Now I have to do a search and see if I can find a few other things...
like a time stamp,
see if I can add a chat forum.
and how to change the page look of the page that it shows "after" you click on submit
I don't really know what that page is called.. so I don't know where to look to edit it

hey I have another question... hope you pick up on this post since I already marked it as "answered"

What i am wanting to know is about the page that automatically shows when the picks are submitted
this is the "picks" page
http://fantasynascarracin.yolasite.co...

and this is the page stay says the picks have been submitted
http://fantasynascarracin.yolasite.co...

Question is how do I find the second page so i can edit it. I don't see anything that shows where I can edit it.
Currently the "submitted" page looks very similar to the "picks" page. I'd like to make them quite a bit different.

Also.. while I am asking.. is there anything I can do so that when people click on "submit" and are taken to the "picks submitted" page that I can make it show exactly what the person chose so they can double check to make sure they didn't make any errors.
Thanks again for all your help.. nice to see the site working, and even got the "Forum" put up.

Hello Chris,
Yes, I see what you are saying. At this time you cannot edit the page the user lands on after submitting the form, you can only edit the message displayed on the page where you have "Your form has been successfully submitted...". If you would like to change this you can do so in the "Settings" area when editing your form. It also isn't possible to have the choices made show up on another page once the user submits. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you on those two things. I can see how editing the page after a form is submitted would be a nice feature, this is something that I will add to our feature request list to be considered in future releases.

Kind Regards,
Emmy
