I have placed a text widget inside a column divider on my homepage. The page layout is 'blank', but I expected the column divider to influence the size of the text widget to make it stay inside the column. However, the text spills out over the edge of the column divider and I can't seem to change this. Please help!

Normally, you can click and drag the line in the middle of the column divider and this will change your text widget as well. If the text is spilling over, this could indicate bad code. Have you pasted anything from MS Word or a similar word processor, email or another website?

Hi Diane,

Moving the line in the middle of the column divider will also change the size of the widgets on the other side, which I don't want to happen. I haven't pasted anything in - just wrote it straight into the text widget. Would you suggest deleting the widget and simply re-writing it?

Thanks

If you just typed into the widget, then that is probably not the problem. It may be one of the other widgets on the page. If you paste the url, we can take a look at what is happening. Otherwise, you could click on the HTML button on the text editing toolbar (on the far right side) and add a width and height that you want the text to be. Add it within the style tag: width: 450px; height: 350px;

So the text code would look something like this:

<p><span style="font-weight: bold; width:450px; height:350px;">hello </span><br></p>

Hi Diane,

I managed to identify an HTML widget on the page that was causing the problems so I followed your advice and altered the size of it in the style tag - it worked perfectly and solved my problem with the text widget :)

Thank you very much for your help!
