I have 3 questions:
1) How do I enter a 404 File Not Found page into my website?
2) How do I create a 301 Redirect for my website?
3) How do I make all pages except the index page inaccessible to other viewers?
*Note: I am using a free account.

Hello Jordan

Thanks for contacting us! I'll try my best to answer your questions:

1. Yola does not have a way for you to make a custom 404 page. However, thank you for asking and I'll pass your request onto our development team.

2. If you would like your site's address to be redirecting to another address, you can do this by accessing your Advanced Domain settings: Assigning domains and creating a primary domain. However, you would need to make sure that any externally purchased domains are pointing to Yola before you can do this.

If you are trying to add a 301 redirect for a specific page on your site, unfortunately we do not have a feature on Yola that you can use. An alternative would be to create that page, make sure it's not included in the menu and then add a snippet of HTML that will redirect your visitors to another page. This link will explain how to do that: Links that Redirect when you click on menu tab.

3. Yola allows you to create a private website, or make part of your site private, by password protecting certain pages on your site.

What this feature allows you to do:

1. Assign a single login ID (username) and password to your site.
2. Choose whether you want to lock (password protect) all the pages on your site.
3. You can then share the login ID and password with people you want to give access to the protected pages.
4. When they access your protected pages they will be asked to type in the login ID and password before viewing these pages.

What this feature does not do:

1. Allow people to register for a username and password on your site. This is a registration feature which we hope to release in future.

How to use the Password Protection feature:

1. Click on the Site Manager tab.
2. Click on "Site Password Protection" underneath the list of pages of your site.
3. Add a login name and password and tick the pages you would like to protect.
4. You can easily protect all your pages by clicking on "Lock All" or take off the password protection by clicking on "Unlock All"
5. When you create a new page, you will see a check box that gives you an option to protect (lock) the new page.
6. Preview your protected page to see what the login form will look like and to test your log in and password.
7. To make the change effective on your live site, click on the green "Publish to the web" button.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

OK, Thank You very much!
I have 1 more question:
1. How do you put a live feed of your whole website onto you're iGoogle Account?

Hello Jordan

Before answering your question, I just wanted to be sure I understand what you're asking! Please bear with me as I try to better understand what you're saying.

So you have an iGoogle account and you are wanting to add your website feed to that account?

In order to have a feed, you do need to have an RSS feed of your website. Currently, this is only possible with a blog page - not with your whole site.

I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding what you're wanting to do, so if you could clarify further - that would be great!

Hello Sanja

You are understanding exactly what I am saying. Thank You.

Three more questions (As you may have learned about me, I am a VERY curious person)

1. Do you offer a free Yola Guestbook to insert into your website?
2. Can I make it to where: when someone gets on to my site, the first page they see is not the index, but there is still an index page?
3. How can you get a bunch of publicity to your website?

I am currently using www.smartguestbook.com for a guestbook, and it has a lot of catches to it (like the " 'Free' U.S. Laptop") and I need a different guestbook, but cannot find one. Can you help?

Thank You so much for your patience, and sorry for the continuous questions :), Jordan Jackson (Creator of http://jordansgamegallery.yolasite.com/)

*BTW: Your website is VERY cool!

Hello Jordan

For your guestbook, I suggest adding something like a comment box instead of using smartguestbook.com. Here are two suggestions:

Disqus Comment Box:

1. To get the comment code, your site needs to be published.
2. Please go to Disqus.com and register for an account by clicking on "Sign up, free".
3. Register your site in the blue box. Enter your site URL, site name and site short name.
4. Create your Disqus Profile in the green box. Enter your username, password, and email address.
5. Click on continue.
6. Choose your language and any other optional features you'd like to include with your commenting platform. Then click on continue.
7. In the "Choose Install Instructions" box, click on Yola/Synthasite.
8. Copy the code in the #2 box.
9. Go back to Sitebuilder and drag over the HTML Widget and paste the code into the box. Then click on Save.
10. When you preview your site, you may see this message: "This page could not be reached by Disqus. If you are testing locally or on a password-protected page, please use the disqus_developer parameter as detailed here.." - please don't worry about that. You just need to republish your site and you will see the comment box working on your published site.

Another alternative is to use HTML Comment Box. Please follow the steps for this:

1. First log into your Google account. If you do not have one, then you can create a free Google account here.
2. Please go the HTML Comment Box.
3. In the blue box, you will need to click on "Log in" - this will give you your moderation tools. You will be taken to your Google email account. Enter your login information. Once completed you will be taken back to the HTML Comment box site.
4. Please select the options you want available (which is found in the blue box). Then, copy the code you see in the green box.
5. Go to your Sitebuilder, drag over a HTML Widget and paste in the code.
6. Save and republish your site.

As for your index page - The page called "index" in the Sitebuilder is your default home page and the first page your site will open on.

Here's how to fix the problem:

1. Save the current index page with a new name using Save > Save As (this is if you want to keep the content on that page and not re-add it later).
2. Then save the page you would like to be your index page also using the Save > Save As function and calling it 'index' (make sure that you use the lower case i, not a capital I).
3. It will ask whether you want to overwrite the existing index page - say yes.
4. You will have a duplicate of pages, you can delete the old one in the Site Manager.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.
