In order to secure a free .ca domain as per the GYBO offer, you will need to enter the details of your Canadian credit card. The credit card details are used to confirm that you are a Canadian resident.

I hope this helps.

Hi Olav,
Thanks for your message. As Jeremy stated above, unfortunately the only way to verify that you are a Canadian customer is by verifying it with your credit card. I am sorry I do not have better news for you.

Hi therapeutictransformations,

Your question brings up an interesting subject, and I don't think there have been many market studies at all on the topic of domain-type value. How beneficial is it for a site to hold a .com vs. .ca, .de, etc? News articles have been written about .tv (Tuvalu) being popular for television shows.

A .ca domain makes sense for a Canadian business with a local customer base. I bet there is a way to quantify just how much sense. There is some data on the .ca domain. It might help you decide if the domain is worth the effort of getting a credit card for. This one indicates that .ca is holding a small, but stable share of web traffic.

Google trends shows that .ca is most popular in regions of Canada where the population centers are further from the US border.

Additional searching might find out which domain is most popular among your specific customers - whether they most easily obtain information on your services through .ca, .com or even something completely different.

Hello Serge

The Yola GCBO programme has been discontinued, so free domains are no longer available for this programme. I'm sorry that I don't have better news for you on this matter.
