Sorry sambalgado but a private Picasa gallery is just that private... You would need to make them public to be ssen.

If you are trying to add a Picasa slideshow to your website follow these directions:

1) Sign into your Picasa account
2) Click the "My Photos" Tab
3) On the right side of the screen in the middle click on the "Embed Slideshow" link
3) In the pop-up select from small to extra large
4) Right click once in the yellow text box and click "Copy"
5) Drag an HTML widget onto your page and paste the copied code inside of it
6) Click "OK"

If you are trying to add one gallery at a time follow these directions:

1) Sign into your Picasa account
2) Click the "My Photos" Tab
3) Click on the gallery you want to have shown on your site
4) On the right side of the screen click the "Link to this album" link
5) In the "Paste HTML to embed in website" code box highlight, right click and copy ALL the code.
6) Drag an HTML widget onto your page and paste the copied code inside of it
7) Click "OK"

Happy site building
Ed

thanks. I was sure I'd seen another post where someone said this was possible, but I can't find it.

Is there any other way to easily upload photos to my yola site (either as galleries or a slideshow), not one by one from the pc, but without having to place my photos on another third-party website where they can be viewed by anybody?

May I recommend using JAlbum? I use them and you can make your albums private. You can download them for free. Then, embed them into your site. Here's the site if you want more information: www.jalbum.net

littleyou I will have to try out jalbum but I have always had a thing against having to download a program to use an online file/image sharing site.

I will look into it though ;)

very interesting and it does make your site look that much better. I quite like the color possibilities and the functionality of it all but miss the image enlargement to maximum.

Other than that it sure looks great to me. You surely have done a great job with your site girl... I hope it is paying off in spades ;)

Awe and to think I remember Littleyou when you were just a baby site builder. You have done us all proud ;)

LOL Ed... I'm still very much a baby builder at times! =) This site has been awesome for learning new stuff.

As for the image enlargement - I believe you can do a maximum size. You just have to select that option. However, I choose not to as it takes up more room. There is a limit on your uploads. However, you can have more than 1 account. If it's for a small site, then this JAlbum is perfect. I wouldn't recommend it for a really large site.

Sambalgado...

There are many image galleries to choose from but mostly all are open for all to see.

If you password protect your sites image pages you can offer yourrself some protection from prying eyes...

If you need to get your images from Picasa the only and easiest way to save your images from your Picasa account would be to:

1) Sign into your Picasa account
2) Click the "My photos" tab
3) Click on the gallery you would like to save
4) Click the "slideshow" button above your images
5) Quickly press the "Pause" button
6) Right click on the image and press "Save as"
8) Save the image on your computer
9) Click the "Forward" button and when the next image appears repeat (go to) step 6 until you have saved all the images you want.

This process will save you hours of clicking each individual image and opening the file in a new window to save and then back page to the gallery over and over and over and over again... You get the point... ;)

To upload them to your website file manager it really is quite simple.

1) Open your site builder
2) Click the "File manager" tab on the top of your site builders tool bar
3) Click the "Upload Files" button (top left of the pop up box)
4) Find the folder which contains all your saved images
5) In the folder pop up box scroll all the way to the right as far as you can go and left click in the upper right corner of the white box and while holding your left mouse button down drag it tilll you reach the lower left corner of the box and point your cursor on top of the lower left image and then let go of the left mouse button. All your images should be highlighted in blue.
6) Click the "Open" button

All your images should be uploaded to your file manager for placing into your website.

It really is quite simple when you get get the hang of a few images saved from Picasa the rest are easy... ;)

If you have your images in an image sharing website (3rd party) and have them set as private then if you have an embedded slideshow on your site your viewers would not be able to see them. I think a likely plan would be to use the Image widget... This is not so friendly when you have many images to place on your pages but is the safest... I have been there many times my friend ;)

thank you both!
littleus - I started using jalbum, but am unsure about two things:
1) how do i make a jalbum album private?
2) when you say 'download' the album, do you mean actually download it so that it sits on my site, or embed a link into my site?
thanks

Hi sambalgado

First of all, in order to work on your album, you need to download the JAlbum web album generator. Once you've done that and you've created your album through there, then you will see a button to publish to a place on the JAlbum net.

Now... to make your album private, you login to your JAlbum account, click on albums. You'll see a few options on your right-hand side. You can show or hide your album and you can list or unlist your album. If you click on "unlist your album", you will not see it at all on the JAlbum site.

Then, to embed this into your site, you use an iframe code and put in the url for your album.

The iframe code would look like this:
<iframe src="http://YOURJALBUMUSERNAME.jalbum.net/THE NAME OF YOUR ALBUM/" width=850 height=500 frameborder="0">

You can change the width and height but it's best to put it as large as possible.

Please let me know if I need to clarify things. =)
