How do I make an item in the store not available for international shipping?
I ship internationally as a general shipping setting, but I have a couple of items that cannot ship internationally. I just want to make sure that the "store" would not allow those items in the basket once the buyer inputs a foreign shipping address.
Is that possible?

Hello Chris,

I don't think that this condition is available out of the box. It's probably a low level request from what I can see and development is on a priority of requested features.

I would tackle this by placing a notice on the product itself stating that it is not available for orders internationally or maybe specifically not available for country a, b, c etc. Always good to include a reason.

I will keep looking for a published workaround or a specific solution for this. It is probably not the first request for this or similar, it's just a matter of identifying a discussion in the forums or knowledge base.

I'll post back here within a day if that's OK?

Hi Gop, and thank you for your prompt response. I have already posted a note on the item, but I was just wondering if there was a "stupid proof" option.
Looking forward to seeing what you find out!

Chris,

The more I think about this the more aware I become of the importance. For example if it was a restricted import in a certain country, the sending country is not likely to pick this up. It hits the destination country, it's rejected and either confiscated (likely) or returned. From a customers point of view they would be annoyed and from the vendors point of view, very annoyed also as this may have cost them twice the shipping if it was returned and possibly some flack to boot for your customer. The customer would likely attempt to claim a refund and the payment gateway is likely to support them and not the vendor in a dispute.

I was thinking identifying the origin of the connection which can be done but not reliable because the purchaser may be in a different country to the shipping address; they maybe using some sort of protection to hide their whereabouts from nuisance.

The other thing is that the shipping address may not become obvious until way into the transaction at the payment gateway and the payment gateway will return the customers address to the store. It's really quite complex but important in a general sense. I'm definitely looking on this one.

Chris,

Have just heard back from Ecwid moderator that this function isn't available. Inviting you to add it as an idea for consideration and voting.

They also suggested what you have already done as far as warnings.

Hi Gop,
Thanks for looking into it.
I was thinking that it would be easy to just add an option under the shipping rules with would allow you to un-select the general shipping setting of an individual item.
Anyhow, how do I add it as an idea for consideration and voting?
