Go to Alexa and register with them.....Then get their widgets....You will need to add a page URL to generate their code... and then use the HTML widget in Yola site builder to put it on your page.....You will have to do this for each page...Each page will have to have a different URL in the widget for it to work.....Alexa is not very accurate but don't let anyone tell you it is not important...It is still what big advertisers use as a way to gauge sites....This is a case of close is good enough to spot trends and how popular a site is or is not....Oh don't forget to add an Alexa tool bar so your visits to your site count.....Alexa scores are like golf the lower numbers are better

Hi John,
I'm stuck, can you help me?
Can't I just submit my site to alexa without the widgets and gidgets?

Thanks!

They have you place them on your site so they can track visits to your site by those that have the Alexa Toolbar on their browsers...I don't think there is any other way to do it but I will look again anyway to see if their are any other options.

this doesn't tell you how to create a " info.txt " page extension.

according to alexa... the ONLY two ways to verify your site is through an administrator email with your site OR by creating an " info.txt " page.

Hi all,

I just want to make sure I know what it is you are wanting to do; there are a few different things to do with Alexa. Please look at these links and let me know which of these things you are looking to do: http://alexa.com/siteowners.

Or are you wanting to install the toolbar: http://alexa.com/toolbar.

I am looking at Claim your site and Edit your site listing and neither one of these are working.

Since we can't get to our root directory use the confirmation link...It has to go to your company branded e mail.

I guess, you have to update your listing manually with Alexa. This is what I did for the meantime and will wait for their correspondence in the next two weeks before it will be crawled.

Hello rollaamazo,
"Yola site builder" refers to the application that you use to build your site. When you login to your Yola account and click on your site to work on it, you are then in your site builder. I hope this helps!

To verify your site with Alexa , 4 methods.
Meta tag.
Uploading the file.
Officers help.
Email validation.

If you own a domain ,
1.log in to Alexa.
2. "for site owners"
3. Click on " edit site listings" (do not click on claim your site , believe me , this is a trick )
4. Enter your site.
-they will prompt you to claim your site.
Now you should be able to choose "send a link to email "
5. Choose it and enter a email address like you@yourdomain.com

(email method is hidden in "claim your site")

I have followed your direction and as far as I can see there is no "send a link to email " in this area that I can see. Do you have the paid version mine is free.

Me three. I own my own domain but do not use my domain email address, I didn't want to pay extra for it and I prefer gmail. So now what?

Hi,

Looks like alexa.com might have changes their verification process. We would need to investigate this and see if this has indeed changed. We will get back to you on this.

Hi Condo58,

Unfortunately no progress on this. A colleague of mine also tested this out and was unsuccessful in verifying the site with Alexa. I would suggest you contact Alexa directly for assistance on this.

If there are any Yola users out there that have successfully verified with Alexa, please let us know.

My old site was showing up on Alexa without doing anything. I think I installed the Alexa toolbar on my site (this was two years ago) of coarse now it only shows sites linked in as the site was removed from Yola from a false claim by one of my competitors. Even though it is no longer a web site, the domain still shows up on top of 300+ search results on Google. I don't think you have to worry too much about verifying your site with Alexa, concentrate on your content.

I can not verify my site in alexa. Isnt there a short cut to verify my site instead of copy and paste alexa code to all my pages?

Don't know if things have been resolved with this, but I just copied the verification code as a keyword on the page and hey presto it worked.
