What on Earth?? I don't see where this "chatroll" and the nav bar codes come together?? There is nothing in that chatroom that says "library" or "testsite"?? I am very good at navigating the internet but I don't get that place at all?? Denise

Hi Denise,

If you are referring to the Yola test site, I will need to let one of the Champs or Littleus specifically speak to this. I am sure Littleus will give you some information soon. I'm sure she appreciates your patience, she does all the work with that site as a volunteer :)

Hello Denise.. I'm sorry that you find this confusing.

I'll try my best to clear up any confusion.

The Yola Code site (http://yolacodes.yolasite.com) is like a gallery. It shows you what the codes look like. (Please note that the Yola Code site is different than the Yola Test Site). There are several categories (e.g. Navigation Menus, slideshows, image galleries, etc..) You just peruse this site. You cannot grab the codes from this site. Once you see something that you like, take note of the category and the name of the particular code you like (e.g. Lightbox in the Image Gallery category".

Then, you go to Yola Test Site (http://yolatestsite.yolasite.com) to see if anyone is logged in. The reason why it is set up this way is so that we can protect the original codes on the Yola Code site. It can be easy to accidentally erase a page or part of the code when fiddling with it.

We ask that you log in so that only one person can be in the yola test site at a time. Some people may be testing it or tweaking the code and I'd hate to see their work lost because someone else has done something before they were finished.

So.. if you see in the chatbox that no one is logged in, then you can type "log in". Then, you go to the log in page ( just like you would if you're logging into your own account). Instead of entering your username and password, you enter in the username and password given in the Yola Code site on the Rules page.

You'll see there are a number of sites. So, locate the one that you want. Go in and copy the code. If you feel like tweaking it, then do a "save page as" and do your changes there. Read the instructions given and then copy the necessary codes to your site.

Once you've finished copying the codes, then you need to log out of the chat box and type "log out". This indicates to others that the Yola Test site is available again.

I hope this all makes sense to you. Please let me know if I need to clarify things further.

OH shoot, I hope this isn't a totally dumb question, but when I make it to the testsite where I can "get" the code for say, a menu bar, can't I just copy the code and tweak it on my own site? Then it would take up much less time then staying in the testarea?

Thank you again for these great directions littlus. For other newbies like myself, it might be good to say instead of "You'll see there are a number of sites. So, locate the one that you want" to explain you mean the links on the page and the name of a link or two. For a complete beginner I don't think they would get what you meant by "site";) Just an idea:) Denise

Yep.. you can definitely copy the code and tweak on your own site. Just remember to try on a test page first.

you mean for my own personal benefit, so I don't upload something that isn't right or complete right? I am just asking because I want to make sure that there isn't some "rule" that says I have to use the testsite first, you mean my own sitebuilder:)

Also, folks need to know about the tiny link under the chatbox littleus. And then to click on Sign In. I know this sounds like more detail but I think for someone like me I need a lot of detail, lol;) Ty, denise

Bummer:( That doesn't work either. Is that username, yolatestsite@gmail.com, and password, yolatestsite to be used by us or is that just an "example" and we need to use our own info? Oh boy, this day is starting out rough, lol, Im so sorry I am not quicker to learn, denise

Littleus has gone on holiday for a week. Please can you wait until she gets back before trying to use the Yola Code Site. You can tell us what specifically you are trying to accomplish and we will see if we can suggest an alternative in the meantime.

I have just a quick second.. but then I really have to go! lol...

Step 1:

Where it says guest253 - you can keep that name or use your own name.
Then type in "log in".

Then go to www.yola.com
enter in the yolatestsite@gmail.com password: yolatestsite.

If you're still having trouble... perhaps one of the champs can help you out. I'm really sorry that I can't follow up with this and that you're having so much trouble accessing this site.

Most of us here had never built a web site before either just like you....It is even worse for us guys to learn something new like this given our genetic predisposition to just get a bigger hammer when frustrated.Seriously though most things end up being easy after you do them a few times....There is just so MUCH information it is overwhelming at times and that is when frustration hits us all.
