Hi Villadeportiva,

You need to point your domain to Yola.

If you have a domain you bought from GoDaddy.com and would like to use it to publish your site, you can use these instructions.

You need to set up your A Record to point to Yola. Here's how:

  1. Login to your GoDaddy account.

  2. Under "My Products" on the menu on the left, click on "Show all my Products" and then click on "Domain Manager". This will take you to your GoDaddy domain manager in a new tab.

  3. From the "Domain Manager" interface, click on the domain you want to edit.

  4. Click on "Total DNS Control and MX Records".

  5. Now you need to edit your A record. Click on the "edit" icon in the section: A("host").

  6. In the box where it says "Points To IP Address:" put the Yola IP: 208.75.208.172 and click OK.

  7. Under CNAMES (Aliases), the host name for "www" should be "@" (this is to ensure that your address works with and without "www").

  8. Your domain should now point to Yola. You can test if this has worked by typing your domain into your browser. If all has worked correctly you should end up on a placeholder page displaying your site name. Don't be too worried if this is not the case, bear in mind that DNS changes, like you have just made, can take up to 48 hours to propagate through the internet.

  9. In the Site Builder, click on the yellow "Publish my Site" button, Click on the link in the bottom left hand corner of the dialog box that says "I already own a domain name".. Fill in your address and follow the steps until your site is published.

If after 48 hours your domain is still not working as you would like, see the section in the tutorial below on domain diagnosis and troubleshooting.

Please let us know if you need more help with this.

Hi,

Your site looks great.

Are you aware that your site works with the link http://radiovilladeportiva.com/, but not with http://www.radiovilladeportiva.com?

If you buy a domain name through Yola or use one of our subdomains, your domain will work with or without the "www" prefix, automatically.

If you have bought your domain elsewhere you need to made sure that your DNS settings are configured correctly to support the "www" prefix. You need to set up two A-records. One with the hostname "@" and one with the hostname "www". Both should point to our IP address: 208.75.208.172. If you require assistance with this, please contact your domain registrar.

Please note that the "www" is not required and many professional websites no longer use it. So you might just want to drop this from your domain name altogether. See: Be a Pro: Do not Require the www prefix in your domain name!

but I just wanted to make you aware in case the question arose.

As you can tell my site is very, very basic at this point and I would like to make a big difference as I learn. Can you please provide instructions on how to put a button or something so that listeners can get audio from my radio station also?

Hi,

I'm happy to help.

You can add music by using the Widgetbox Gallery:

1. Drag and drop a Widgetbox Gallery widget onto your page.
2. A dialogue box will open, click on the Audio category or search for music.
3. Choose the player that you would like to use on your site.
4. Edit your settings to customise your widget.
5. Click on the green 'Get Widget' button and it will be saved and added to your page.
6. Save and preview your page to view the widget.

You can also add music by using Widgetbox or Google Gadgets widgets:

1. Click on the "Widgets" folder on the far right of your screen.
2. Drag and drop a Widgetbox widget onto your page (Google Gadgets also has players).
3. Click on the link in the dialogue box that will take you to Widgetbox.
4. Browse for a player. Here is a direct link to one where the music plays when your site opens:http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/myplayer.
5. Customize your widget (the site will take you through the steps depending on the player you select).
6. Copy the HTML code provided.
7. Paste the code into the dialogue box in Yola and click "OK".

Please ensure that you own the copyright to the music you will be playing.
