How to allow others to save a picture from my picture gallery?
It just allows them to save the .html page but not the pictures, because I want to share them.

Hi,

To save images from your Picture Gallery follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the thumbnail and select "Open Link in New Tab".

  2. The image will open in a new tab.

  3. Right-click on the image and select "Save Image As".

  4. Choose place you'd like to save it on your computer.

  5. Click "Save" and the image will be downloaded to your computer.

Let us know if you encounter any problems with this!

On my computer I tried to do as you said, but I could not see the option "Open Link in New Tab"; if I click on the thumbnail (to open it) then right-click on the picture and select "Open Link in New Tab" it will open the whole page again in the new tab.
Here is the snapshot of when I right-click on the thumbnail:

Hi Trieu Minh Duc

Are you click on the thumbnail, then right-clicking? If you are clicking on the web page instead of the thumbnail, you will not see the "Open Link in New Tab" option.

I didn't think you could ask me that so simple question!
Everyone can understand that the thumbnails are the subject here.
Because I'm am IT expert and I've been tried that problem for so many times.
If you click the thumbnail a big picture immediatlly will pop-up and when you right-click on this picture and then select "Open Link in New Tab", the whole page will open again in a new tab.
And in a normal condition whenever you right-click on a picture then you should see the option "Save picture as".
Why don't you try to see what happens?
Hope to hear soon from you!

Hi Trieu

I think I may have offended you by asking such a simple question and I would like to apologize if this is the case. I most definitely did not mean to offend you in this way.

The reason I asked the question is because it would be an explanation for why you are not seeing the link. I have replicated step 1 from Justine's instructions above and I do see the "Open Link in New Tab" option from my browser. Here is a screen shot of what I see:
.

Hope that is helpful to you.

Dear Nazlie,
Thanks to you screen shot I've found what makes me not to save the picture.
That's because I'm (and most of us here) using Internet Explorer to surf the net. When received your answer I immediatlly switched to FireFox and got the screen shot like your!
So the problem is from the browsers! But I wonder why you did not make the program (Picture Gallery) to be suitable for all browsers equally?
I hope your development team will solve this problem in nearesr future.
Your faithfully,
Trieu Minh Duc

Hi Trieu

Good to hear that you were able to find the link! Yes, as you know, different browsers will handle web functionality differently because of the way in which they interpret code from websites. Our developers would have taken into account the lowest common factors and developed the code accordingly. In this instance, most browsers have the option to open in a new tab from the drop down menu.

Many thanks for your input and feedback.

Hi Nazlie,
Thank for your instant reply. Yes, most browsers have the option to open in a new tab from the drop down menu. But in IE, instead of open only the picture link, it opens the whole page (so it will be the same as the picture gallery page).
You sould try to see it!
Best wishes,

Dear Lee,
As I mentioned before in a normal condition whenever you right-click on a picture then you should see the option "Save picture as".
But with Picture Gallery right click the larger image there is no such option, instead it has "Save target as", "Open in new tab"...
You should try to see it!
Best wishes,
Trieu Minh Duc

I did test it - I never speak from assumptions - I get the "Save picture as" link in both IE8 and in compatibility mode (IE7).

What version of IE are you using?

Your screen shot above is while the image is still a thumbnail (obviously no one would want to save a thumbnail anyway) any chance you could take a screen shot of when your clicking on the larger (popped up) image?

Not sure then my friend - from here it looks like the lightbox has not worked, either that or the image is to large. Do you have a URL for the site it is on, I could have a look at it for you closer.

OK,

I have a work around for you....

It's strange that we get different results in the same browser - but your right, on your site the 'save picture' link is no where to be found.

The work around...

Add this line of code to where you add the title for the gallery images.
<!--

(<a href="/resources/sb975.jpg">Download this pic</a>)

-->

Changing the image location to match that of the thumbnail.

Hope this helps, I will work on a better solution after I have eaten :)

Dear Lee and Nazlie,
The work-around by Lee helped me to have "Save picture as" option when right-click the pictures.
Thank you again both of you for the tireless suports!
But it's now a pity for me, because I used to implement the "Picture" widget, but our friends demand for sharing pictures have increased rapidly and we have lots of pictures in hands, so I have to use this "Picture Gallery".
Now it seems that I will have more extra jobs to do, particularly when in "Picture Gallery" edit screen the picture links and names are not shown!
Please inform the development team about our situation to solve the problem.
Best regard,
Trieu Minh Duc
