This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: 404 errors from blog

A few weeks ago my blog page suddenly created over 2600 404 crawl errors. I've tried looking for help and asking on here for advice, but no one has answered.

I've subsequently deleted the blog I had running for around 4 years, blogging twice a day. A lot of worked binned. I've told Google to remove the URLs in WMT. I can see they have been deleted, but the errors are still present.

So, the pages no longer exist, they're supposed to be deleted in Google. Why is it that Google is still able to find these pages? How on earth can I go about getting this sorted? I've seen a big drop in performance since this issue arose in SERPs and Google dropped all my structured data around the same time.

Please help.

Hello Will

I'm sorry for the delay in responding to your recent posts. Can you please re-submit the sitemap of your Yola website and wait for it to be crawled by Google? This should make them update the data they still have about your website pages right now.

Thanks for getting back to me. Been feeling like my (business) world is collapsing around me. I've resubmitted the map. Fingers crossed it all works out.

It hasnt worked. The errors are coming back from the pages that I have requested to be ignored and after resubmitting the sitemap. These pages have also been completely deleted from my Yola site. I can't get my head around how Goolge is able to still see these pages. Any ideas on what to try next?
