How to create a rolling list....?

Yea, I named it myself lol...

I'm looking to create a long list separated into several pages.

However, As I add something to the list, I'd like the list to automatically move down the list and the last item on each page will roll over to the next page so I can keep the same number of items on each page and they can stay in the appropriate order.

Is this possible with yola? If not... what script can do this?

I'm guessing some kind of javascript would be involved to make this possible.

How about embedding a pdf file? You could just change the file as needed. Otherwise, I don't think there's a way to automatically create a new page.

and pdf file isn't going to work, with what I have in mind, I would literally have to change it 10 times a day and it's not exactly a speedy process.

and with a pdf embedded, that wouldn't be separate webpages right? With this type of site, there could be a list of a million, take ten days to load the page! lol

yea, lol... what I'm looking for I've actually seen done but not sure what language they're using.

Say for example they have 10 items on each page and 10 pages (100 items)

When they add something on the first page, say in the spot of item #5... say for example to keep an alphabetical list organized...

Page 1
Aa
Ab
Ac
Ad
Af
Ag
Ah
Ai
Aj
Ak

Page 2
Al
Am
An
...

When item #5 on the first page (Ae) is added, everything from that point moves down the list...

Page 1
Aa
Ab
Ac
Ad
Ae
Af
Ag
Ah
Ai
Aj

Page 2
Ak
Al
Am
An

ok... let me tell you EXACTLY what I want to do and noone better steal my ideas LOL...

MySpace has many "friend fanatics" constantly trying to find friends and stuff, some have actually reached 5,000,000 friends (Tila Tequila for example)...

I want to create a site, which organizes MySpace users based on friend size largest to smallest and give them a rank (i.e., rank 1,203) and they will have to request to be added to the list.

When I add a new user to the list somewhere in the middle, I want all pages to reflect this new addition. I don't want to have one page with 20 people, one page with 12, one page with 15, etc. and I don't want to have to adjust every page as someone new is added. Go research myspace friend adding sites (not exactly the same idea I'm implementing but the list is the same thing I want)... you earn points on these websites for adding friends. You are listed on the website based on how many points you've earned for that day. They generally have the same number of members per page (i.e., 24 per page) and as you get more points, you move up the list and it readjusts every page for the changes in the list.

Afraid this is way out of my league! LOL I think this probably requires php and a database--definitely beyond javascript. If you do a search for friend adder script, they all appear to be php. Good luck!

ok, thanks for the research Diane. I think I'm working it out, I'm just going to organize them slightly different... take a look...

http://sitebuilder.yola.com/sites/D7d...

Although I'm currently the only one in the list. Check out the homepage on this site too if you want. I think it's a good opportunity for some.

You'll notice in the navigation I have a page titled "1 to 100 friends"... this is how I will organize it. As I list MySpace members who have more than 100 friends... I'll add and change pages to suit. Like...

More than 4 Million Friends
3 to 4 Million Friends
2 to 3 Million Friends
1 to 2 Million Friends
750 K to 1 Million Friends
Etc.

And I'll just organize it this way and only have one page for each section of users as listed above. I will place each user in their own widget, so when I update friend counts and move people up or down the list, all I have to do is move their widget.

Feel free to tell me how good or bad my custom mad banner and logo is. Would love the feedback! :)

Sounds like a plan--though I could see some pages getting unwieldy (like the 1 to 100) of course, this might be a good problem to have! Meaning you would have lots of people using the site! Regarding the banner: I'm not crazy about the yellow color; how about if the little figure in the middle had a smile? Hope this helps.

well... I wanted the logo to imitate MySpace's logo but different.

What I did, I pasted MySpace's logo into paint and flipped it so it's backwards. Then I used the paint feature "invert colors" and that's how I got the yellow and black. I used those colors cause it was easiest... but when I get the chance to really work with it, maybe I'll consider changing it. :)

That's also why I didn't use smiles (because I've thought of that)... bc MySpace doesn't and because my site is based on MySpace, I wanted a similar logo (but my own twist so it really isn't their logo)
