To do this , you must have a domain.(not yolasite or synthasite.)

then , access your domain registrar's control panel.
In here , go to where you created A records to point at yola.
(link may be named as edit records , edit zones or edit DNS.)

then , you need to create an A record again .
Host : www.your (ex: www.Mail )

Ip/value : (no dots at end. If registrar says error , add a dot to the end of ip number.)

then , save configuration (if asked ttl , value is 1 hour/3600

it may take nearly 1 hour to work , depending on registrar.

Then , go to Yola and login. Then, go to site manager.
Click on the advance domain settings check box.
Go to domains tab.
Then .You need to select the site which you need to point to your existing domain.
Click Add button.
Enter your subdomain in full. ( (no www here, it automatically added by yola)

click Add.

This should solve your problem. If you have anymore problems creating A records ,(not for domains purchased from yola)
post here.
Or drop me an email to details in

Hello Paul,

You can create subdomains using the Advanced Domain Settings and setting up A Records, here's how:

1. Login to your Yola account and make sure you are on the "My Sites" page.
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tick the box next to "Enable advanced domain settings".
3. You will be scrolled back up to the top, click on "Advanced domain settings".
4. To access the domain settings, click on [Details] next to the related domain.
5. To access the A Record, click on [Edit this?] next to DNS Entries.
6. You'll need to add to add two A Records, make sure that "A" is selected next to "Add a new DNS Record Type" and click on the "Add" button.
7. Under "Name" add the subdomain you would like to use (eg. group).
8. Under "Value" add Yola's IP address (
9. On the second A Record, under "Name" add *.name (where name is your subdomain) and the IP address is the same.
9. Your subdomain is then available as (for example).
10. You will be able to publish a new site to that subdomain by choosing "Use my Domain" when clicking on "Publish my Site".

For more information on accessing the DNS Settings on your domain, please view this tutorial: DNS for your Yola domain .

I hope this helps.

Hi Steven,

Unfortunately we are experiencing a slight bug in that you are unable to publish to a custom sub-domain.

What you can do in the meantime is make sure your subdomain is pointed to Yola's IP address: then publish your site to a free subdomain.

Once you have done this, please send us an email to and share what your subdomain is and what custom subdomain you would like assigned to your site and one of our technical team will do it for you.

Many thanks for working with us on this!

You just go to domains and click advanced domain settings next to the right one.
