How to customize the banner?

Hi, How do I customize the banner?
I don't want the left to have editable text, and the right to have an image. Rather, I want to use my own banner that incorporates both. How do I put that banner image onto my website? And exactly what is the length, from left to right?
Finally, I would also like to have the banner a little bigger from top to bottom, if that is do-able.

Thank you so much

Hi Rivkah,

Banner placement varies depending on the chosen Style. Often there is a banner dimension mentioned on mouseover or somewhere in the style. You need to look for a style that has a banner replacement feature.

often the banner reserved area is fixed and won't accomodate a size out of the parameters. If this was your primary consideration then i would look at an open style template and create the banner place yourself. Then save the page using Save As feature. this then allows a kind of template to be used for subsequent pages.. It's not as convenient as a dedicated banner style. There are a lot of banner styles and although it takes time it's worthwhile working through these.

Here is a Style Guide that may help. Look at the bottom of the left hand column for customisable banners

Oh, thank you so much for your reply. I just tried the templates, and basically the problem I'm having is that I already changed the background and I like the way everything looks so far... except the banner. Is there a template that will allow me to keep what I have and then just customize the banner? If you can see my site from the back end (it isn't published yet) the site is dollmakersmuse.com. You can see what I mean. Sorry to look so "helpless"

I am using yola bronze.
Thanks for your help! I

I went ahead and published the site.. but the problem is that it looks as though it is being held hostage by "mobile me." About 2 years ago I had made a small website with this domain name, and hosted it on apple's mobile me. Obviously I don't have that anymore, and when I try to see my own website, I get a message asking for a password. Since the subscription is expired I can't see anything.

Now what do I do?

OK. For the moment you can publish it to a yolasite sub-domain. That's free.

You will need to contact the mobile me people to see how you can get the issue fixed. I don't know how that works. You could also send an email to support@yola.com and ask their advice on getting control back of your domain.

Rivkah, to get back to your style question, yes, you can test out any of the styles without it affecting the content you've already added. Find the style you like with the right navigation menu and banner area (make sure it's replaceable) and select it. Keep a note of the current style name in case you want to go back to it.

Hope that helps a bit.

Hello Rivkah,

First of all, thanks to everyone who participated on this thread and helped out! It's great to see the forum members helping each other out!

Secondly, Rivkah, it is possible to adjust the size of banner using codes. Can you please let us know what style you are using and what dimensions you are hoping to have for your banner?

Hi Sanja,
Thank you very much for writing back! I am using the simple frame style. I would be happy keeping the banner the same width that it is, and perhaps a little bit taller. I don't know the current size, do you?
There is a little white border going around the banner, but I don't want that.

What size would the new width need to be?
Thanks so much for your help!
