How to edit my site using HTML text only rather than using the Yola Site Builder?

I want to learn HTML and this would help me in trying out new things and seeing how they appear immediately

how do I start doing this? how do I upload the stuff to my site to be published?

please guide me

Just open a page and drag in the HTML widget, and away you go ! I've used pure HTML on a few of my pages, and find it quite useful for some things. Not there's anything wrong with the Sitebuilder though - it has a lot of great features and more are being added daily.
A good HTML reference is Elizabeth Castro's HTML For The World Wide Web. Another deeper, but more difficult for introduction to HTML, is James H.Pence's How toDo Everything with HTML and XHTML.,

Thank you very much Mr. Taylor.

So according what I understood here is, I just create my new page for example, then drag the HTML widget and drag it onto my page then start from scratch. That sounds easy to get started with.

I will start by reading Elizabeth Castro's HTML

You have a good one.

Yes - you would still use the style as the basis of your page but you can do a lot with HTML as Philip has suggested!
