How to get main blog display to indicate a blog entry has comments?

Comments work, but I want each blog entry on the main blog page to indicate how many comments have been made on that post.

Hello Timothy

If you're wanting to create a link where it displays the number of comments you have for that particular blog post, please follow these steps:

1. Log into your Disqus account.
2. On the right hand side, hover over the name of your site. A menu will drop down.
3. Select the "Install Instructions".
4. Click on Yola/Synthasite.
5. Copy the code in #3 box.
6. On your blog page, drag over an HTML widget (click on back, under "content" to see the HTML widget) and place at the bottom-most part of your blog page.
7. Paste in the code.
8. Go to your blog post and click on the HTML button. At the end of your post content, add the code given in #4 which looks like this:
<!--<a href="http://example.commy_article.html#dis...>

* Do not include the <!-- and -->. They are simply there to stop the code from rendering.

9. Replace the http://example.com/my_article.html with your blog post URL. This would be something like: http://yoursitename.yolasite.com/your....
10. Click on OK.
11. You should see the number of comments you have for that blog post.
12. Do the above steps again for each blog post where you want to display the number of comments.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.

This just seems to put a link: "Comments" in the post. http://brownfamilyreunion.yolasite.co... here is the page. I must be misunderstanding something.

Hi Timothy - I think you may have the incorrect code on the page. However, Sanja is far more experienced in this area than I am, so I'm going to ask her to help you when she's next online. Apologies for the wait!

Hello Timothy

Thanks for your patience! I took a look at your code and it does appear to be the incorrect code.

Please be sure to copy the code in the #3 box where it says "Copy the following comment count code..."

Can you please give this a try and then let me know if you still have trouble with this?

Hi Sanja,

I was trying to achieve the same thing as Timothy above in being able to see the number of comments listed in a post. However, I'm not able to get it to work. I'm wondering where I mistyped code. My site is www.xavierbasketball.com and I was trying to achieve this in the post called "test post". Could you have a look when you're free?

It would be really great if this feature was added into the Yola Blog widgets so that the number of comments could be listed on every post automatically.

Thanks for your help,
Josh
