Hi Jillene

What a truly interesting concept you have for your site! Your site's design appears to be laid out in a straight-forward, easy to understand manner.

There are a few suggestions I would like to offer you:

1. Perhaps instead of outlining the disadvantages, I would instead put these "disadvantages" into a small disclaimer. For example, something along the lines of... We always strive to ensure that open and clear communication takes place. We realize that email communications are not always able to catch the nuances and emotions that you are trying to portray. blah blah blah... - sorry, I'm not very good with words! But, hopefully you get the gist of what I'm trying to convey.

2. Another option that you may want to bring into your site, is to have a chatroom, where you and your client can converse live. You could make it a private room so that confidentiality will be maintained.

3. I would strongly encourage you to scan any documents (e.g. degree, counseling license) that relate to your counseling experience so that it lends an air of authenticity regarding your profession.

4. I noticed that your home page and "counselling online" appear to be the same page. I would suggest deleting the "counselling online".

5. You may want to add a resource page, where you could people can access further information regarding their issues/concerns.

I hope that these suggestions do not scare you away! They are merely there to help bring in a different perspective, perhaps one that you have not thought of before. This site has to feel right for you - so please do what you think is best for your site and for your profession.

Very nice clean site....I think it fits your clients....Anything peaceful and non threatening I think would be a plus....I have a cousin that has been a Drug Abuse Counselor for many years here in the USA...I have been trying to get her to do something like what you are doing....Hope you don't mind but I would like to e mail her your site link and maybe your site will inspire her.

Hello Jillene,

Professional sites are a slightly different realm.

Confidence and trust are the likely aspects that your clients are looking for as well as affordability.

Your site is calm and inviting and John has identified this straight up, that's not a bad test. It feels relaxed and trustworthy.I think that there would be little you could add to the aesthetics to make it more attractive. Of course any site can improve but I don't think it will alter the conversion rate. I like littleus' suggestions for your consideration. These suggestions give the feeling that you are there, so important in the initial-early professional relationship and establishing that intangible, rapport.

I would guess that it's the promotional aspect that's in that lag phase. This is the universal experience of web-site builders. I think you're right with your sig line "I’m Undecided if Im reaching my clients". This takes time and a bit of work, but you will achieve it.

I would highly recommend the SEO tutorials here in the Yola library, which are designed purely to get your site into a higher likelihood of being at the top of Google searches. It's a very systematic process and it helps to bring down a bit of the "have I done the design right?" doubts.

Emmy, one of our curators during the long Aussie nights, has just published a 4 part tutorial on the basics of SEO. You may like to read it here. She's done a great job.

Good luck with your work and site Jillene.

There could be a potential spin off here. Free services to fellow builders at 3 am in the morning when everything goes haywire. it's a known syndrome, a specialist area :)

Ok, I think maybe some pictures of happy people on the index page... As well as capitalizing all links (bottom one) and adding more links, and the middle paragraph kinda just ran all together for me, maybe try to use some text that is bold and some of it that is not in bold print... Great site concept!

Hi - excellent concept and design - great work.

I'm too lazy to read everyones response so if i touch on what anyone else says - sorry.

I would like to see an example email - my first reaction was '30 bucks for an email?' - an example of your work would validate the payment -- nor do you really prove to me you are qualified to do it.

I'd like to see some extra content - the bullet points on your home page would make excellent links to more information on each topic - this can be done by adding a new page (and not having it the main menu) you could add 'anchors' to link to each section. (ask for more help with anchors and links)

### sorry, i just saw your diploma on the 2nd page - this should be bigger.

I have 2 effects on a page on my site which i think would work great on your site. http://hexham.info/swallowship -- the top rolling image would look great on your home page and the tree image which enlarges on mouseover would be great for your diploma (which by the way should be on the home page)

Finally, your meta data (search engine stuff) needs looking at - Emmy has just finished a set of tutorials on this - i would highly reccommned you check them out http://www.yola.com/tutorials/intro-t...

Lee.

As I am new to Yola, I have another issue. I scanned a document to add to my site. It scanned in PDF format. When I tried to add it to my site it went on there as a PDF and not the picture of the scanned document. Not sure which widget will let me put a scanned PDF document in it. I tried to change it from PDF to an image so I can use the image widget. What else can I do?

Hi Jillene,

To add a PDF file for viewing:

1. Upload the file into your File manager
2. Drag the file widget (looks like a floppy disk) from the properties bar onto your page.
3. Link your PDF file to this icon.

Now what will appear is the classic Adobe pdf icon at that place and the file name. When a user clicks this the PDF will be rendered onscreen for people to view.

I agree with you that for a static image maybe a single page or something another format would be better. Unless the content of this file contains information that would predictably help in raising or adding to the SEO ranking. (Happy to explain this further if you want)

This would be a property of the software you are using to do this. There's proabaly an option somewhere in yourr scanning manager to select such an alternative file type. I'm familiar with some of HP's bits and pieces but that would be an amazing coincidence if we were using the same.

If this is an ongoing problem probably best to get a friend to scan it and save it as a "jpg" or some other image format.

If you need to pursue anything as a follow on. We're here.

Peters right - you ill need the file to be a .jpg or .gif or another image file type, then the file will upload as an image to your site.

I have done a little research and found you can convert them here http://zamzar.com/ -- i have never used the service, they ask for your email so i dont know how many emails you will recieve from them -- i have a public email account i could use to do it for you, if you like.

If you wnat me to test it using my email account send me the file name of the PDF. (whatever its called in your file manager).

Lee.
