Hi there,

I'm looking to have an Excel spreadsheet on my site, which should be sortable by clicking on the header for a specific column for example sorting by highest/lowest review in one column or highest/lowest price in the next column etc.
I presume it's not as easy as just converting the spreadsheet to HTML and then using the HTML widget? There probably needs to be data in the background somewhere for the sort functionality?

I have found the following site - http://www.kryogenix.org/code/browser... , which discuss what I want but no idea how this could be incorporated in Yola?

Here is an example of a site which have something similar to what I want to do - http://www.bestsurvivalknifeguide.com/

Your help and advise will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi zero7,

You can create a table and use some javascript to do this.

Sorting Table is a table I created to display this function. If this is what can be used let me know here or you are welcome to contact me by email: gop@designscent.com

If you click on any of the column headings then the table will be sorted on this with all other columns being associated correctly. It isn't using an excel sheet and you do have to code it manually

Hi Gop,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, that's exactly the type of table I'm after. I assume one can include pictures and links in the tables too?

I don't know anything about Javascript though. Is this the best way to do it (it certainly looks very nice). Any suggestions?

Links won't be a problem but I would need to check on images. Do you wish me to research that? If it can't then I am happy to work with you on one of the reference methods that you referred to. Let me know?

javascript is an executable code that is understood in webpage editing. If you have Yola free (or Bronze, I think) then the javascript file needs to be hosted externally, which is not difficult but it can be a bit slow very occassionally. If you have Yola Silver then the file can be hosted within your website itself and always very fast. It's easiest to think of it as a component rather than feeling you need to be fully fluent in the ins and outs of this immediately. The use of the javascript is transparent after setting up the file so it really isn't a nasty boy at all.

Hi again Gop,

That would be great if you could look into the pictures option for me (I want to do something similar to the website referenced above, which include pictures in the left most column).
I have Yola Silver, so that is a good start.

Thanks so much for your help, we can discuss further once we know what is possible.

Hi 07,

I have been able to include images in the sorting table. For the sake of expediency I have added it as the far right column. I haven't added images to all the entries so if you see blank spaces please don't be alarmed. Please see my original link to see what it looks like. Apologies for using your images without permission, it was simply expediency.

Tell me how you would like to proceed from here and I'll take your lead.

Gop.

Thanks Gop, that's good to know that it will work with images (Btw, that site I used as an example is not mine). I haven't got any data ready yet, I just wanted to see if its possible for me to do something similar. I've got your email address now, so will contact you direct once everything is in place and see if we can make an arrangement.

Thanks again for the effort!
