Hi, I just got the Yola Silver because I needed more space for my website. I also produced a video using Adobe Flash. I have a .HTML file for that video as well as a .swf file sitting on my desktop. I uploaded both into my file manager in Yola. Now what can I do to insert that video in the home page of my website. I don't want to use the youtube widget because it is not really professional and I want the video to autoplay when people are on my home page.

any help would be really appreciated

thank you

I tried pasting this without the <!-- and --> and changing the myswffile for the actual name of my swf file. I also tried to change the width and height so it matches the ones of my video. And when I hit save on the HTML widget, nothing comes up. I did the exact same thing for my animation and it worked but it doesn't seem to work for a video or movie...

This is what I tried to paste in the HTML widget..:

<!--
<object width="200" height="400">
<param name="movie" value="resources/myswffile.swf">
<embed src="resources/myswffile.swf" width="200" height="400">
</embed>
</object>
-->

thanks for the help

Hi Bobnad47

The code you have pasted here is correct and should work. If it is not showing up for you, then please check that you have the correct .swf file name and that it is in the File Manager, not in a folder inside the File Manager. This will change the file path in the code.

If you are still having trouble with it, please share your website and we can take a look for you.

Thank you

Hi Nazlie

I tried again and I made sure that it was the right .swf file name but it still does not work. My website is not published online yet. My user name on Yola is bnadeau@dal.ca and my domain in nadeau goaltending consultant (nadeaugoaltendingconsultant).

There is a .swf file in the file manager called "Official Video.swf". This is the video I want in the home page of my website.

Can you help me?

Thank you very much

Hi Bobnad47

I've done some research and there could be a number of factors which can cause your SWF file not to display on your website even though it works on Flash. Some of it depends on the way in which the file was created.

When you create the .swf file, it may generate a .js file. You will need to upload this .js file to your File Manager too, as the .swf file references information from the .js file. Please note that only Yola Silver users are able to upload .js files to their File Manager.

You may find some information in this link helpful in creating an embeddable .swf file: Detecting Flash player versions and embedding SWF files with SWFObject2.

I hope this is helpful to you. Let us know if you need further assistance with it.

Thank you

Hi Nazlie,

I read the information on the link you gave me. I am able to upload my .swf file and .html file into my Yola file Manager. Unfortunately I am no able to generate a .js file when I export or publish my movie from Adobe Flash and thus, can't upload it in my Yola file manager. Is there anything you can do to help me?

Thank you very much again

Hi Bobnad47

I have seen some forums where people discuss this problem. Which version of Adobe Flash are you using?
