How to know if DNS settings were changed?

I've asked a question previously on how to change DNS settings, and understand that it has to be done with my registrar. I was told to email the support team at Synthasite, and they would do it for me.

Support said:

"1. We can edit your DNS settings so that your domain points to your new provider. Depending on the host you're moving to, it would either be editing name servers or creating an A Record. This means that you will still get a renewal reminder from us 11 months after purchase. If you choose this option, please could you send us the name server or IP address required for the A Record.

2. We can release your domain so that it is transferred to another domain registrar completely. You will receive a code from us that you can give to your new domain registrar.

Please let us know which option you prefer, and we will arrange it for you."

Am I supposed to receive an email confirmation when this happens? Because I emailed the support team with the settings I wanted to change, but it doesn't appear that anything has been changed. (My overall goal is to be able to host ads on my website, so I needed to change my A Record.)

Maybe I should just make it possible for myself to change my own settings. So if I want to be able to edit these things myself, what do I do? (If it is possible to stay with Network Solutions, but with me being able to login there and change my own settings, please let me know.)

Thanks :)

Hi Karin,

We would definitely have let you know when the change had been made - when did you send the email?

Alternatively, please send an email to support@synthasite.com to my attention and I will find out what's happening.

Unfortunately we don't yet have a have a tool where you can edit your DNS settings, but it's coming soon!

I'm patient! But I don't know the average support response time, so I'm wondering if it hasn't been received/read yet, or if something went wrong. I sent the email just over a week ago, and another email concerning a different topic over 2 weeks ago, and haven't heard back from any of the emails I sent.

Hi Karin - we like to think we have great turnaround time on any communication with support!

It could also be that our replies are being caught in your junkmail filters or not being delivered correctly. Unfortunately I can't look up your details because I don't have enough information from your posts here on GetSatisfaction. If you can send an email to my attention (support@synthasite.com), I will reply and I will also post here so that you know it's been done.

Hi Karin - I don't think we got your email (if the email name is 'Karin') - can you try resending it again?

I'm going to try sending it from my Yahoo email account now. Sometimes Hotmail gives certain other companies trouble, it's happened in the past. First name will be "Karin".
