How to open a new window link as soon as the page is clicked?

I want visitors to click on a page i.e. at the top of the screen and then be directed to a specific link somewhere else i.e. not my synthasite website. Currently, after making the page, I only have the option to put things on that page, but I want the visitor to be redirected to another link (in a separate window) as soon as they click on the page at the top of the screen. Thanks

Hi bubblybex

Here is a link to another thread on this forum that you might find helpful:
http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...

It explains how to redirect someone to a different site when they click on one of your pages. The link does not open in a new window, however.

Links to other sites from the main menu of your site is a practice that web designers strongly discourage so you should have a very strong, carefully thought out reason when you do this.

Thanks Monique.

I have to add this feature to my website in order to take online bookings but they ask they when someone clicks on the page, it opens a new window. Is there anyway of doing this at all? A lot of other hotels have been able to do it so i'm presuming there must be a way through synthasite also.

Thanks again,

Becky

Hi again Monique,

I've tried to do as you suggested, but i'm sorry, I misinformed you previously - i do not have a link to the site but a html code so it isn't working when I add this code to where url should be.

I'm new to all this so thanks for all your help thus far,

Becky

Hi Becky
No problem. Could you please do the following: email a copy of the HTML code you are using to support@synthasite.com. We will try to figure it out from there. Don't try pasting the code here as Get Satisfaction reads HTML! You can mark your email: "attention Monique" and I will try to help you with this.

Make your link.
Open the html for it.
Add: target="_blank" exactly as shown, after the HREF as shown below in the example.

<!--
<A HREF="http://www.copyscape.com/"target="_bl... SRC="http://banners.copyscape.com/images/c..."
-->

Leave out the <!-- and the --> at the beginning and end. (Those characters are so this site doesn't read the code)
