I want to transfer my domain AWAY from yola to a different service provider. I have done as mentioned in the tutorial i.e. unlocked the domain. It says I will receive an email with the transfer code but I have not yet received (I've checked the spam folder as well). How long does it take to get one ... is it instant or does it take hours/days?

Hi meet,

You should receive the authorization email shortly after you have unlocked your domain, although it can take up to 24 hours.

Could you let us know the name of your domain so that we can investigate on our side?

Thanks,
Jackie

The domain is silverfernz.co.uk

I tried using google apps to configure my email but then it asked me to verify if I own this domain and I tried everything they said ... they asked me to upload html but then you dont allow to add html files.
Then it asked me to change/add DNS which I did but still it could not be verified.

So I thought better move away as there are lots of other sites without any hassles and straightforward implementation.

Cheers

Hi meet,

In order to transfer a .co.uk domain your new registrar should provide you with a "tag". Please let us know when you have this tag and we will add it to your domain which in turn will release it for transfer.

If you would like to continue hosting your domain with Yola we can definitely help you with your Google Apps setup. Instead of a HTML file, you would need to generate a TXT record.

Here are the steps:

1. Log into your Google Apps account.
2. There will be a button at the top of the page called "Activate Google Apps", with a label next to it that reads 'Before using Google Apps, you must first verify that you own your domain'.
3. Click this button, and the next page will be called "Verify ownership".
4. Select 'Add a DNS record to your domain's configuration', and from the drop-down box select "Other".
5. This will generate the TXT record needed, it will look something like this "google-site-verification=3gx2xVdwXE6QxTqQWNVfv7zOpWvEjGhMPeLbACv16yQ".
6. Once you have copied down this TXT record, log into your Yola account and make sure you are on the My Yola page.
7. Click on "Domains" and, next to the domain you are using for your email address, click on "Advanced domain settings".
8. Click on "Change your DNS settings".
9. To add an TXT record, click on "Add DNS Record".
10. Select TXT from the dropdown menu.
11. Leave the "Name" field blank and add the TXT record to the "Value" field.
12. Click on "Update" to save the settings.

You should then be able to verify your domain with Google Apps within 24 hours. If you require any assistance with this please let us know!

Thanks,
Jackie
