I have a domain name on webs.com I want to transfer it over to Yola. How do I do so? I've been reading the instructions, but I'm at a lost. I've already contacted Webs and they removed the Registrar-Lock. Thanks in advance.

Hi Kim,

We're happy to help you. Can you tell me which step you are stuck on in our Transfer Tutorial?

The step where you have to make two A records that point to Yola. I have my domain on webs.com. On webs, I went to Manage domain name, settings, records. When I got to records, I only saw a CNAME and MX record, but no where to create an A record.

Hello Kim

You may want to send an email to your domain registrar asking for assistance with how to modify your A records. Here's a sample of a letter you could send:

Dear registrar,

I have built a site using Yola.com and would like to point my domain name to them in order to publish my site. In order to point my domain to Yola, I need to use your name servers but set up two A records (address record) to point to: "208.75.208.172". The A Records will need to be setup to support the address with and without 'www'.

If the domain registrar does not allow for you to change the A records, you can use ZoneEdit to help you point your domain to Yola.

We have a detailed tutorial that includes instructions on using ZoneEdit: Using ZoneEdit for domain name management .

ZoneEdit is not a domain registrar. You will not be able to buy a domain through ZoneEdit. Rather, you need them when you have registered a domain, but not been provided with suitable DNS management services enabling you to point your A records at Yola.

Important: You will need to request from your current domain registrar (the people who you bought your domain through) that they change your nameservers to the ZoneEdit nameservers.

I hope that helps.

Since I wasn't able to add an A Record, webs.com added it for me. They only added one (even though I told them I need two). The A Record they added is www(host) and 208.75.208.172(address). What does the second A Record need to be? Thanks in advance.

Hi Kim,
The other one will either be blank or have an @. I hope that helps :)

I had to make two CNAME records instead of two A records in order for my domain to be transfered. The A record webs.com made did not work. I made one host www.banner-mart.com and the other banner-mart.com Webs.com only made it www. Thanks for all the help :-)
