html box is still not working

Ughhh!
So I have been having this problem for a long time. I don't have 40 hours a week to work on my website, so I never was able to finish investigating it last time I needed to add HTML to my website. I "solved" the problem last time by just posting a static image and then attaching a website link to the image. (If you go to my website, you can see my "workaround" on the right side of my index page, the purple "Icing Smiles" link.) I do not want to have to keep using this clunky method of creating html/links on my page.

Today I tried to add HTML using the HTML widget again, and again, the same issue.
What happens: I click on the HTML widget. The box pops up. I try to paste in the code, either using , and I try with the EDIT->Paste menu. With both ways, nothing displays in the HTML widget box. (It sits there empty, like I haven't done anything at all.) Just to test, I then try to paste the code text into a text box, and it does appear.

HTML box just sits there blank.

I'm using Google Chrome. I've also tried using Exlplorer, with the same results.

Other "fixes" that I've been encouraged to try before:
Yes, I have tried deleting all my history and cookies.
Yes, I have tried exiting out of my browser and trying again.
Yes, I've also tried doing each of those things and then restarting my entire computer.

Nothing happens.

On other websites, and other programs, I'm able to copy and paste text with no problem. I am *only* having this issue with the Yola site builder, and specifically, the HTML widget. Like I said, I can copy and paste this code into a text box just fine.

Here is my website I'm trying to add HTML to:
www.homeruncakes.com/index

Here is the code I'm trying to add:
---->

---->

Please. Can this please be looked into? I'm so frustrated I just want to quit using Yola altogether.

Thanks,
Debby

Sorry, in the second paragraph, what was meant to be said was:
I try to paste in the code, either using Control+V, and I try with the EDIT->Paste menu.

The "control+v" didn't show up in the OP because I wrote it in HTML format.

Additionally, the written out code for the Wedding Wire badge didn't show up in the post, but got changed to the badge/link itself. If you need to see the actual code, let me know what I need to do to post the code without it being read as html to format into the badge.

Hello Debby,

Can you wrap your code between < code > and < /code > Delete the spaces within the brackets and it will display without rendering.

Sorry I just now got back here to get this updated. HTML box is still not working.
Here is the code I"m trying to paste in the HTML box:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://wwcdn.weddingwire.com/static/js/widgets/wwrated/2012.js"></script><div id="ww-widget-wwrated-2012" class="ww-reset ww-widget-wwrated-2012"><a target="_new" href="http://www.weddingwire.com/reviews/home-run-cakes-llc-blacklick/5ea262a81d535dca.html" title='Home Run Cakes, LLC Reviews , Columbus, Lima, Zanesville Wedding Cake'> <img class="ww-top" src="http://wwcdn.weddingwire.com/static/images/badges/ww-rated/2012/WW-RATED12-blue-top.png" alt="WeddingWire Rated 2012"></a><a target="_new" href="http://www.weddingwire.com" title="Weddings, Wedding, Wedding Venues"> <img class="ww-bottom" src="http://wwcdn.weddingwire.com/static/images/badges/ww-rated/2012/WW-RATED12-blue-bottom.png" alt="Weddings, Wedding, Wedding Venues"></a><div class="ww-clear"> </div></div><script type="text/javascript"><!--
WeddingWire.ensureInit(function() {WeddingWire.createWWRated2012({"vendorId":"5ea262a81d535dca", "divId":"ww-widget-wwrated-2012"});});
--></script>

Please read my first posting above so your response doesn't just ask me to do one of those things. (I've had some fruitless correspondence with customer service when they have just repeated the same boilerplate responses.)

Thanks.

Where I'm trying to insert the above HTML is, on my index page, between the credit card image and the 2011 (last year's) Wedding Wire badge. As you could see if you look at my index page, nothing is showing up -- not even any space where the HTML should be.

When I copy the HTML and attempt to paste it into the HTML box, no code or text of any sort appears on the box.
Just trying to make it clear what the problem is.

Hi Debby,

I suspect(?) that the code you use is being over-ridden by the old code as I can see recent additions to the 2011 HTML box. It may well be that you can't have two of the same clone on the one page?

You may like to try adding the new code onto a trial page and see if it updates to the new style on the trial page?

Thanks for responding; however, the issue isn't with this code per se. The issue is the html box is not working on any page, with any code. I just used this code above as an example for the most recent time I have tried to add code.

OK. Thanks for replying Debby.

When I paste that code onto a trial site of mine it renders as it should I think.

http://havenoname.yolasite.com/

So it seems as if there's an issue with your site blocking HTML. This can be associated with invalid code previously pasted.

A strategy for finding this is to work backwards removing the most recently added code and trying again after each removal. It's a secant method of locating the problem and may not identify the issue as there's really no quick find. It's all done manually.

Hello again Debby,

If you can locate this code on your index page:

<div id="I92_html"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://static.weddingwire.com/static/js/widgets/wwrated/2011.js"></script><div id="ww-widget-wwrated-2011" class="ww-reset ww-widget-wwrated-2011"><a target="_new" href="http://www.weddingwire.com/reviews/home-run-cakes-llc-blacklick/5ea262a81d535dca.html" title='Home Run Cakes, LLC, Columbus Wedding Cakes'> <img class="ww-top" src="http://static.weddingwire.com/static/images/logo/wwRated_2011-blue-top.png" alt="WeddingWire Rated 2011"></a><a target="_new" href="http://www.weddingwire.com" title="Weddings, Wedding Venues"> <img class="ww-bottom" src="http://static.weddingwire.com/static/images/logo/wwRated_2011-blue-bottom.png" alt="Weddings, Wedding Planning, Wedding Websites, Wedding Venues"></a><div class="ww-clear"> </div></div>

The first </script> seems to be an orphan that may need to be removed.

<script type="text/javascript"><!--
WeddingWire.createWWRated2011({"vendorId":"5ea262a81d535dca", "id":"ww-widget-wwrated-2011"});
--></script>

Above is an excerpt I don't understand :)

The second issue is that there's the immediately above script which has been inactivated. If this is an HTML widget and then you add anothe slice of code within the same HTML widget this could hide the extra code as it would also be wrapped within the <!-- and -->

I would either remove the HTML widget or remove the protectors and see if this works.

Hello again.
Again, still not working.

I've tried adding HTML to any and all of my pages. It doesn't work ANYwhere. And not just with this particular script.

****The HTML widget ITSELF is not working.*****

When I open the HTML widget, there is no cursor, in the first place. But even if I do randomly click in the box and either try to type in or copy/paste in a script, nothing happens.

The box remains blank.
Nothing appears in the box.

If I think "hmm, maybe it's just not showing up but it really is there" and I click "save", when I go out to my screen preview, the box renders as an empty space.

I don't know how I can possibly explain this any other way.

My site is up for renewal this month and I'm about to say goodbye to Yola forever. It's just not worth this headache..and to boot, I was signed up for the autorenewal, and the cost for renewal through that program was significantly MORE than I would pay with a non-autorenewal.
I see that as a terrible business practice.

And because I know you will ask again, I will answer again:

I have been using Google Chrome or IE 9 to try to maintain my site.

Hello Debby

I've lost track with your HTML issue because you've posted about this problem on multiple threads, and additionally you seem to have more than one profile on Get Satisfaction. Can I ask you to stick to this thread to help you sort out your HTML Widget issue? That would help me a lot to help you which I'm determined to do! :-)

So this is the issue as I gather it from your threads and posts:
You can drag and drop an HTML Widget on your page, but the HTML Editor opens as a blank white box, or won't let you type or paste any code in there. Is this correct?

Assuming that I have your permission to test your website homeruncakes.com, I have created a test page named "test" – don't worry, it's neither in your navigation nor published, and you will be able to easily delete it yourself again. I used Google Chrome.

On this test page I added an HTML Widget and was able to add this code which produces a simple text paragraph, both by typing and by pasting:
<p>This is a test by Yola Support.</p>
1. Can you please go to this test page and check if you can see this HTML Widget on the page and if you can edit it by clicking on "Edit" and opening the HTML Editor? You could add some extra text between the p tags for testing.

2. If this was successful, can you please drag another HTML Widget onto the same page and add the same code to see if that works? Can you please try both typing and pasting? Please use the keyboard shortcuts to do this.

3. If this was successful, can you please drag another HTML Widget onto the same page and add the code you actually want to use? Can you paste it to your HTML Editor? If not, can you please provide the code on this thread again for me to test it in your account?

Looking forward to your feedback and solving this tricky problem!

Hello. Thanks for your reply.
I have gone through the steps you listed above. I was able to manually type in html, but no copy/paste worked. (using either keyboard shortcuts or right clicking) .
So this is definitely an improvement over a completely unresponsive HTML widget box on my other pages, but still not a solved issue.

If you go to the Test page you created, you can see the html that I added by typing the text.

Sorry about the changed profile; I wasn't getting any email notification of response using the other profile, so I had to create a new one using the Get Satisfaction option.

Hello Debby

Thank you for your feedback!

Ok, let's go on analysing this problem. Can you please try to copy/paste
  • using Firefox

  • using a different computer with either Chrome or Firefox
?
My problem is that I'm unable to replicate the error you report. I'm perfectly able to copy/paste into the HTML Widget, using Chrome, and anyone else I'm asking to test is able, too. So I'm presuming that the cause must be on your computer.

What version of Chrome are you using? Please update Chrome to the latest version as this is the only one we support.

Also, we've learnt before that certain browser plug-ins or add-ons can cause this problem, so eventually you could try deactivating add-on by add-on to check if the copy/paste functionality returns.
