How do I make a link that users can follow? Right now when I paste the URL onto the main page of the sight it can't be clicked.

Hi Austyn,

Here's the html code of a link:

<!--
<a href="http://www.yourlink.com">TheTextYouWantToAppear</a>
-->

Just replace 'http://www.yourlink.com' with the link url and change the title of the link. (Remember to take out the '<!--' and the '-->')

or you can do it through link editor... highlight what you want to be linked and click the link editor in the tool bar and insert link. Paste the link into the external url section then click ok... it's the simplest way.

Ok now I got the link to work, however using the HTML editor makes a separate box and it wont let me add text to it. Is there any way to change that?

yea, add the text in your text widget then highlight and add the link through the editor for example

link text - highlight then open link editor and insert the url.

it should look like this in html...

<!--
<a href="www.yourlink.com">Your Link Text</A>
-->

it's done the same way you just did it except instead of the actual link address being highlighted and opening link editor... you would type in the link text and highlight that, then open link editor... example

I added though, a code to make it open in a separate window, let me know if you'd like to know how to do that.

Hello Austyn

(Thanks Connor and Donald for your help!)

Here are the steps for adding text links to your page.

1. Drag and drop a text widget onto your page.
2. In the text widget type the words that you want people to click on (this is your link text).
3. Highlight the link text and then click on the link button (it's the 10th button from the left in the text editing tool bar, and looks like the link in a chain).
4. A link editor dialogue box will open up and you will be given 4 options. You can link to an email address, an external URL, a page on your own site or a file in your file manager.
5. Click on and edit the option appropriate for you.

You will then have a link on your page. To check that your link is working preview your page and then click on the link.

This is a brief explanation of how to add links, we have written a tutorial that shows the process in more detail. Here is the link: Creating Links.
