I can't get email to work using Windows Live

Hi,

I have followed the tutorial for setting up email for my new domain using Windows Live but it doesn't seem to work. Windows Live keeps saying I need to prove ownership by creating a DNS record but I have entered the MX server data from Windows Live into Yola, which confirmed that I had done this successfully but then nothing happens. I have waited 24 hours - is this long enough or am I doing something wrong? My domain name is biosigma.co.uk. Can you help please?

Thanks Steve

Hi Steve,

I have checked your domain's settings and I cannot find the MX record for your domain. If you would like to try and add it again, please follow these steps:

  1. Login to your Yola account and make sure you are on the "My Yola" page.

  2. Click on "Domains" and then click on "Show advanced domain settings" and then "Set up email for your domain". Make sure that you have selected the correct domain (if you have more than one ) on the drop-down list.

  3. To access the MX Record, click on "Change your DNS settings".

  4. To add an MX Record, click on "Add DNS Record".

  5. Make sure that "MX" is selected.

  6. Add the following:
Add the MX Record (eg. smtp.secureserver.net) to the field with the heading "Value"
The Priority can remain "1" if they ask for "0"
The Name can remain blank for both entries

  7. Click on "Update" so that the setting is saved on your domain.

Alternatively if you can let me know which MX record you would like to add, I will be happy to do this for you.

Thanks!
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I cannot see anything like "smtp.secureserver.net".

Windows Live says that I need to create an MX record with the following settings::

DNS record type: MX
Host: biosigma.co.uk
MX server: 4f626ffb5959ff438353f27a5f3b0a.pamx1.hotmail.com
TTL: 3600 or 1 hour
Priority: 10 (or High priority)

Could you do this for me?

Thanks for your help

Steve

Hi Steve,

I have added the MX record for you, and you should be able to verify your domain with Windows Live within the next 24 hours.

Thanks!
